Goodness. What handball??
As much a penalty as the Newcastle claim.
Just to keep things even.
Depends on what you classify as being “like it”, as he literally won us the ball that Díaz then collected to win the penalty just a game ago.
EDIT: Just because I saw it on a related link to something I was looking at, there was also Arsenal.
Also, because I just saw your edit, he’s had 0.45 goals per 90 in the Premier League. But see my post in the other thread for more of his stats.
I’m not sure about the Newcastle claim but that one was one of those that looked a lot worse on the first viewing, before you see the close up and realise there’s nowhere for his arm to go…
My response was to the claim that we were lucky that theirs wasn’t given…
Neither were penalties, hence my “evens out” comment.
I have to start using emojis
He needs to learn from it, because it is the third or fourth time he’s done that this season, and this time he got punished and it cost us two points.
No more Kells. Safety first.
The late foul on Diaz was the one that got me. A few suspectbones before that too but that one absolutely stank.
Yet again we’re talking about referees.
Anyone else feeling fucking furious this morning? Furious with most of our team. Furious at the ref. Furious at the geordies. Furious at Slot.
After all that. After having to play a game of football refereed by Joelinton. After all those yellows for nothing. After all the Newcastle shithousery, swallowed by Stu Atwell. After that wretched first half display, we somehow - thanks to Salah - find ourselves 3-2 up with ten to go. And Kelleher, after all his heroics, all his ‘does Alisson even get back in this team’ displays, does that. For fucks sake.
And I’m sorry, but a rain lashed, energy sapping pitch, sandwiched between too high intensity games and already injury depleated squad, and we finished the game having used three subs? What the fuck? Why even take Endo, or Elliot, or Morton? Not good, Arne. Not good.
The worse part is that I know for certain that we’re getting absolutely nothing at the weekend. Last Merseyside Derby at Goodison? Yeah, right. Like the script for that isn’t already written. They will have been WWE bouts with less certainty on the outcome. I’ll take no injuries right now, because those cunts know they’d have to pull a fucking flick knife to get a red. Might as well play it as a fucking testimonial. Send Big Dunc on to take the injury time penalty they are obviously going to get.
The sun most certainly hasn’t got his hat on today and there shall be no hip hop hooraying.
Too many below par performances but the subs really helped get us back in the game. We’re wading through these games whilst missing several key players, especially in defence so the option of rotating isn’t there.
Agreed that Endo could have been used to inject some energy but it was the mistake from Kelleher that did us. But he has more than enough credit in the bank that a bad night (2nd goal felt he was poor too) won’t wipe clear. Disappointed to see a lot of, “See? Told you so” style of messages about him. Bar us, City and arsenal though I’m not convinced Raya is much better, he’s a number 1 for anyone in the league.
As for the result, it was disappointing to drop the points late on but perspective the morning after is important. Arsenal lost here and city drew so it’s not a bad point.
Salah was exceptional, 2nd half!
That handball was never a penalty,
Quansah’s challenge looked like contact on Isak and he didn’t touch the ball if it had been given I don’t think there would be any arguments.
Although, I missed it, but several posts suggested that we should have had one for holding on Diaz, but even mentioning the handball is daft.
Handball absolutely not. Surprised there was such a vigorous claim. That’s never a pen, and nor should it be.
The Diaz one was absolutely a pen. He is being fouled by three of them, and get his shirt pulled back in the box.
The Quansah one is tight, but I though he won the ball fractional before Isak.
I missed the one on Diaz and replays show that Quansah didn’t get a touch on the ball.
But with the ref not giving it, it wasn’t going to be overruled
Surely that would be a clear and obvious error if he didn’t get a touch on the ball?
I don’t think they deemed it enough contact, but from the replays I saw he never got the ball
I must use emojis in future.
I was responding to a post on Newcastle not getting a penalty with the “it always evens out” mantra…
I was being sarcastic.
Apologies
For clarity
Neither were actual penalties…
The Diaz foul started outside the box…but we were never getting it anyway.
Missed this one due to work.
Upon watching the full 90 this morning.
A thriller game but a poor opening 45 minutes as we created little and losing battles all over the pitch.
We quickly turned that around with a brilliant second half as we looked like we had won it after a dazzling display from Salah.
Unfortunately our chance of the win were scuppered by Kelleher and Nunez through misjudgement. An opportunity missed but in the cold light of day it is not a bad point.
We move on!
YNWA
You mean when the ball was smacked at his elbow which was by his side? That wasn’t handball.
