Way to go, if you’re gonna do it,do it in style!

Crazy. My kids (just turned 9) and (2 x just turned 7) are in bed by 8:15 and 7:15 respectively and generally asleep within 15 minutes. When they wake up they read/play quietly in their rooms until they can visit us at 7:15am.

Are you John Cleese?

These two usually go to bed at eight, but are allowed an extra hour at weekends.

The girl fell asleep fairly quickly but the boy is overexcited taking about Liverpool with me. His parents aren’t into football, and he started off as a Man City “fan” but I soon set him straight. I bought him Liverpool stuff for his birthday and Christmas and gave him a shortened version of my “Manchester City are sportswashing cunts” lecture, so he’s now a full Red. He can name most of our squad.

Ah but you’ll get to enjoy it knowing the ending :ok_hand:

Drat. Think I self-sabotaged myself with all the innovative Danns songs.

This is like a bad movie

On game of the day right now on Sky, looks like it’s the last 20mins or so…I think I’ll stick with this until MOTD. Winner is worth waiting for.

Almost feel like re-commentating the game, brilliant shepherding by Virgil there to close Awoniyi out.

What is the ruling?

Lots of salty fans, arguing on forums arguing even though the head injury happened in the box, that because the ref blew too slow and it was now outside of the box. It should have been a forest ball.

This is at best a grey area of the law, however even if they take that stance. If the ref blew a second later the ball would have been back in the box. Which shows the decision was in the spirit that the law was intended.

However, let’s say the opposing view is correct. Then the correct decision should have been a free kick to Liverpool. Because he got kicked in the head

‘Special afternoon’

FT: Nottingham Forest 0-1 Liverpool

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BBC Sport: "Pretty special afternoon. It’s been a tricky schedule.

"This game didn’t go easy for us. We didn’t have a great rhythm and the boys felt the intensity for the first time.

"We had our moments. We didn’t start well.

"In the last second the guy who looks like a former Liverpool player thought I’ll score a goal and decide the game.

"The goal was set up by a guy who was the calmest on the whole pitch. I saw it only live but I’ll never forget it. He was calm. He chips the ball there. Super assist and super important goal.

"If you’d told me 12 days ago we would win all four games I would have said no chance, it was impossible. In the circumstances winning the games is ridiculous.

“We will recharge until the next game. It’s pretty special what the boys did. To get to that points tally was a big fight. It never was easy.”

2. Dropped ball

PROCEDURE

  • The ball is dropped for the defending team goalkeeper in their penalty area if, when play was stopped:
    • the ball was in the penalty area or
    • the last touch of the ball was in the penalty area
  • In all other cases, the referee drops the ball for one player of the team that last touched the ball at the position where it last touched a player, an outside agent or, as outlined in Law 9.1, a match official

The horror, the horror

Their argument also ignores that there were several phases of play afterwards

After the game restarted

  • Forest player won a header, but ball recovered
  • Forest player won a tackle
  • Forest player clears the ball (50 yards or so) for a throw in (in Liverpool half)
  • Forest player left ball (and got played off him for a corner
  • Forest player clears corner with header
  • Forest player blocks shot from outside box
  • Forest player passes short ball to another player
  • Forest player loses ball to Mac Alliser, who provides a wonderfull assist

It’s disingenuous for forest / Clattenburg to be arguing immediately after the “wrong” decision Liverpool go on and score.
