Don’t care much about the result as such as I believe we’ll look good and get results from next week. Penalty shoot outs worries me as that costed us CL last season. Hope we improve on that.

Salah was generally very poor I felt.
Suppose the shinning light in all this whoever wins it usually has a shit season so I’ll happily miss out on the lottery of pens.
Second half was crap and summed up a shit weekend.

On this performance there is no way we will win more than three trophies this season. 1st half was good.

Oh and ref was his usual shit, I forgot they gave up with that kind of performance when no one could catch up. Making up for lost time.

So far what I saw from Szobo in a deeper role as one of the two (and left sided) double pivots, I don’t like it at all.
We have improvements to do in defensive transition, how the back line hold the line and plays offside and set pieces (some of it was there to be seen last season).
Salah’s last two penalties and that free kick in a friendly was an absolutely horrible combination of power and inaccuracy. Like a kid that doesn’t know yet how the ball will behave if hit in a certain way.
And big luck with that clear handball by Mac, that’s not even difficult to see and decide.

Don’t care about the result. Loved some of the intricate passing among our players. Good to see all the new boys give a solid performance. Looking forward to Bournemouth next week.

Lots of positives from the game, esp wrt the controlled possession and link up play in the final 3rd.
Struggled with the diagonals, esp on the left. And the defensive line will need some getting used to.
Hopefully we can sort out the final transfers this week…
Don’t really care about the result, but I do care about the school yard defending displayed throughout the match, which has been a running theme since the first preseason game. Quite simply, this sort of defending is a sure way not to play in this next year. So, thoroughly disappointed in this regard. Shocking penalties again after the ones with PSG too.
On the bright side, when we do click going forward, we are breathtaking. Ekitike looks like the real deal (as long as he doesn’t follow Nunez’s example, who also scored in the Community Shield) and Wirtz is special. Unfortunately, they were two of the few who performed to their standard, most didn’t with the worst offenders being Salah and Van Dijk.
I really did not enjoy this one and what’s more, even though we’ve literally spent hundreds of millions, we are clearly lacking in options from the bench.

Sort of as I expected. Very exciting in the final third, but very much a work in progress at the back.
Possibly the worst penalty shootout I have ever seen from us. I think Mo skying the first may have given the others the jitters, but this didn’t look like a practised performance.
Frimpong looked very lively, very much like his performances for Leverkusen last year. I can see lots of potential amongst the rest. It’s just a case of getting used to playing as a unit.

Did think Maca might be the option but he missed too, Dom does take them for Hungary and scored his.

Weve spent a lot but by letting Quansah, Diaz and Nunez go, Chiesa isnt fancied… we dont have much depth.
