Post match: PSG v Liverpool (UCL 8/4/26 8pm)

Good question.

Every week we manage to find a new low to come away with. I’m not buying this whole PSG superteam bollocks either, Chelsea and Spurs came here and stuck it on them. Monaco have scored 8 goals against them in 4 games this season, 3 times they went to 10 men, did we do our homework and watch any of those games? Last I checked we were the champions of England, to not even muster a shot on target is unacceptable and cowardice.

In the nicest way possible, abandon all hope.

We set out to park the bus and failed at that too. This just may be the most pathetic Liverpool side since the 90s.

Not because it’s lacking quality, but because it’s lacking fight and because it’s lacking courage.

The only positive thing to say about that game is, it’s only 2-0. Nothing else, absolutely zero. I’m sick of these shocking performances, game after game. This has been going on for twelve months now, ever since the 5-1 win against Spurs. The end of the season can’t come fast enough for me.

Because it’s full of quality, and still lacking in fight and courage

I get the idea of playing in a low block against them - survive away, take them at home.

It’s just that we don’t have the kind of spine needed to implement it well. We’re far too open and far too gutless to get dirty like that.

And I have to imagine that playing that way is demoralizing for players who came to Liverpool expecting us not to play like Sean Dyche’s wet dream.

Mama gets MOTM for me. I think he’s a very good shot stopper. I just wish the rest of his game was better. Hopefully with time. He better pay attention to Alisson’s work off the ball, especially with respect to positioning and reading attacks, because that is one skill that Ali remains elite at.

Probably in the minority, but I am far from impressed with him and this game did nothing to change my mind. He had a couple of good saves but he looked bad for both goals.

Neither was strictly his fault, but I think that he could have done better on both occasions.

You have to remember we played 3 games in a week and the PL didn’t lift a finger to help us out unlike PSG who were helped by their FA for both games and now we have to play Fulham on Saturday and 21/2 days later we have to play PSG again who will have had 6 days to prepare for the second game it is not fair really. As you said had we tried to press them hard we would have got slaughtered. The other thing is we should not have sold Diaz and our young CH whom Slot really threw under the bus and who is doing well at leverkusen.

Arne Slot has managed Liverpool in 5 Champions League knockout phase games, with Liverpool failing to score in 3 of those 5 games.

0-1 win against PSG

0-1 Defeat against PSG

0-1 Defeat to Galatasaray

4-0 Win against Galatasary

2-0 defeat against PSG

The first goal definitely wasn’t his fault. That was a bad deflection. He should have done much more for the second one, I agree. But he also made multiple really good saves.

The first looked a bit shit from him on first viewing, watching it again the deflection looped it over him.

Yes. A true low block team for the first goal would’ve had someone lunging to block the shot ratter than sticking a leg out.

Only Gomez and Kerkez seemed up for the task to get down and dirty.

I would understand this comment if we were Bodo Glimpt or Qarabag. But we’re fucking Liverpool. The PL champions who spent £450m in the summer. 6 times winners of the competition. And that was a pathetic effort from start to finish

Well I suppose it’s a change from the usual garg he’s been strutting out with lately. “We weren’t here, we weren’t there, we didn’t show up, we needed to show up, this was a big game and I’m still the only one on this team that does any running”

Psg will score at Anfield.

Not worth stressing about at all. The fact me and my lad came out of the pub happy we only lost 2-0 says it all. I felt almost euphoric.
Nothing to be learned from it. We are a shit, badly coached team that can’t attack, defend or string more than 2 or 3 passes together.
Thought the keeper did ok although he should have done better on the first goal. Konate and Wirtz got my other votes.
