You were criticising other posters for their opinions that you claim were over hyping Jones.
My comment was, yes, directed at you but also general. It just happens too often for my liking that there’s this continual bicking about over hyping or over criticising. Particularly in post match threads where we are talking about our impressions of a particular match and not our general feels about a player, which are better made in the relative Kirkby thread.

My point was that I was surprised that Jones was man of the match in this game though - why would I post that anywhere other than the match thread.

I think you will find that Thiago probably dispossessed their players more than anyone on our team!!

For me I thought Jones was up there for motm. What he now needs to do to take his game to a higher level, is to be able to pick a pass to unlock defences, great in possession but very few key passes.

Nit surprised at all. He gets stuck in but I have noticed that whatever side he plays on teams can get some joy there unless there are other solid defensive players there too. I noted it when Thiago and Jones swapped sides in the first half

A joyful and deserved result. Both goals were well taken and will give our lads more confidence. Glad that Curtis wasn’t subbed! I give Curtis the MOTM.
Before the match I was confident we would win, and after a good first half Mo and Mane ensured our win with two cracking finishes. Alisson looked more his usual self.
Now for the derby!
