Huge difference is we played and purposefully went out to press, we could have done that against other teams instead every ball has gone back, very few went back yesterday.
Do you not think we’ve played rotten at times over the last 10 games? (Seems to not be a reason on here but it has been, compounded by other things of course) I don’t think we were too far off against Leicester but they and Man City hardy sat back and we could do nothing in all honesty.
Ref thing makes more sense in the fact they knew straight away he would be more fair and down the middle, though I do think he favourtised us more at times, not an issue, I believe he refs the second leg doesn’t he, they usually keep the same guy on
Oh, I agree completely. Our football has been dire for extensive periods over the last twelve months; however, the players are going into league games expecting to be screwed by the officials and that has to have a detrimental effect.
Maybe, who knows, but it is difficult to envisage a trouser leg worse than the particular one we are currently descending (or is it ascending?).
You were fortunate. For my part I find it doesn’t matter which leg of time I choose. Somewhere, unseen in the background, Fate quietly slips the lead into the boxing-glove.
PS Does your other half know about your liaison with Mrs K? I’d keep it under your hat if I were you.
I do agree it felt more fair in general, compared to the premiere.
That said, I did feel that it had its moments, like fouls given against us that had similar cases against Leipzig not given, or that ruled out goal instance that I mentioned…of course to a much lower degree than what we see in the premiere league. Could also possibly be a slightly PTSD-induced sense…
If that was true I’d be embarrassed by that thinking. We have been poor, we have made individual errors, we have been moving the ball far too slowly, we have had a ridiculous number of injuries which has caused a domino effect on the team. This has led to a drop in confidence, understandable imo.
That is the real reason we have dropped so many points. Of course we have had some crazy decisions go against us but ask fans of Villa, Arsenal, Utd and they’ll say the same. You deserve the position you occupy in the league and it’s difficult to make a compelling argument that we deserve to be higher.
Last night though offered hope, now we need to take that into the next game and win. And then the next. And the next until we’re back to a place where we know that when we walk off the pitch we’ll have found a way to win.
You really believe in that? Juventus won the league in the season 2004/5, they had much more points than others. Did they deserve that? Italian Supreme court said otherwise.
You’re using corrupt Italian football which has a long history of bribery and corruption as proof that there’s an agenda against us? You really believe that?
Just need to ask, why now? Why not last season or the season before? Is it not more credible that the injuries we’ve suffered and the constant need to change the cb area, which has had a negative domino effect on the whole team is more likely than a PL led agenda to screw us?
And that case it was Juve caught bribing if I remember correctly. So are you suggesting that the entire league are in collusion with the match officials?
I wanted to see what the MOTD pundits said about this game but pesky BBC wont let me access I player even with a VPN. Anybody know another way to see it ?
Why is it that players are only either over hyped or over criticised, where’s the fucking middle ground?
I realise that some commentators and pundits go OTT but praising a young player for appearing to be our best player in a match really just is not overhyping!
Try his kirkby thread!
Pretty impressive that. He just popped up everywhere.
Having said that quite a few of the team really grafted, but then they have for a lot of games only to lose them by a few moments of madness ( loss of concentration) and a few iffy ref decisions.
I’m not criticising him.
This place is all about opinions and my opinion on his is that he is a good player. Is he in our best midfield 3? No. Best 5? Probably not.
Was he man of the match yesterday? No not for me. As I mentioned there were I’d say at least 5 better players than him on the day (Mo, Mane, Hendo, Trent and Robbo). With Kabak, Bobby and Alison contributing just as much as him.
Like I said he is a good young player and I have no doubts he will be awesome in the future
