Post match: Real Madrid v Liverpool (UCL 6/4/21 8pm)

motm goes to Kabillips.

That’s our 2 centrebacks

I prefer Milly to Gini, more aggressive in the challenge and offensively

i havent heard the rumours but i must admit i thought about it myself over the last period of time.

the only thing that disproves the theory is that the club MUST be aware of his numbers, and they MUST be monitoring…so if hes still playing nineties constantly, it cant be long COVID…surely?

if it turns out to be the case there will be a few embarrased staff at LFC

Well they did…but 3 to 4 times in second half trenty showed his class and the dumbcluck of a ref Gabe a foul against him…as for the hand to the face and the following death roll…I would have hit him harder…

maybe he palpatine and TAA is about to turn…

The first half was appalling. I have no idea what the game plan was supposed to be and I suspect that the players didn’t either.

The second half was better but not without fault. If we had started with that 1:1 wouldn’t have been a bad result.

This is not beyond us but it will be tough. Anyway, back to the day job next weekend.

As I said but in a much better way haha…

Worrying trend with Klopp and the first half…

problem with Gini in that line up is you need him to dominate the ball. That’s just not him. He’s a gap plugger. He fills holes, covers players etc. Wrong selection IMO.

Keita. What to say… not a lot really

An absolute horror show, but still lost only 1-3. Very slim chances for the return leg, especially without fans.

Alisson - could do better for their 3rd goal, but still our players just watched Benzema passing to Modric, passing to Vinicius and they score. That is not defending, that is escorting…

Defence was very, very poor. Especially TAA. The boy must improve defensively, Vinicius played his best game of the season, while Trent was awful. Another assist, but for the wrong team. He must improve defensively or he will never be world class.

Robbo looks like a dead horse to me. We overplayed him, Scotland overplayed him and he is just a shadow of the player from the last 2 seasons. He needs a rest and time to recharge batteries.

Philips is not VvD, but was still better than Kabak. And by the way every team in the world knows how to score against us - long diagonal ball behind the full backs and between the central defenders who lack speed and are positioned too far from our goal.

Midfield - we lost the battle. Casemiro showed why Tite prefers him over Fabiho. Kroos was sublime and Modric very good. On the other side Gini was hesitant, he made so many mistakes in easy situations. Safe passing /sideways or to the central defenders/ when he had the chance to make things sharper. Fabinho started well, but at one moment became nervous and slow. Keita did not protect Trent, but I don’t think that he was our biggest problem.
And Tiago, the world class player according to so many forum experts… Klopp had to play Milner or Jones they give us much more than the Spaniard.

And in attack Salah was good, we had one decent chance and he scored. Mane was awful once again, Mendy tottally bossed him.
Jota was lost between Militao and Nacho.

Real were the better team and we are lucky that at the end of the day we trail by only 2 goals.

This season is not our season. We are poor defensively, too many players are injured, most of the starters are out of form.

Not sure who does the player ratings on This Is Anfield but fuck me - awful

Thank fuck this site broke away from
There

With Nat and Kabak at the back, we really needed to keep hold of the ball to prevent RM exposing our weakness. Going with Naby at the start ahead of Thiago was the key tactical error.

We hardly put a string of passes together at all till he was subbed.

Can see that an on form Naby could give us ability to skip past a man, but what we needed was some control to mask our weakness at the back.

Add to that individual errors, and it’s a recipe for disaster.

Darth Sidious did execute Order 66…

Coincidence? I’m not so sure.

This team just can’t put a run together of good results.

That result shows the difference in mindset and physicality between two clubs. RM full of confidence and swagger. Coach set them up to stifle attack and out-muscle us to every ball. Jürgens men play too timid and clean. Don’t understand how to win the little battles and are mentally out-matched against that lot. We set out today with a midfield who have scored 2 goals in a year. Both from Gini. There is no threat there, every team we play knows this. Our strikers are diminutive, pose zero aerial threat when the back line is set up.

So they sit deep, break at pace and hope to nick a few.

Rinse/repeat. Same squad for last 3 seasons makes it really easy to defend against.

I’ve said this for years. They same to rate on who they like just that tad higher than they should.

All the journalists are indicating that Keita wasn’t injured when hooked.

Whoever we play these days, you just don’t know which Liverpool team will turn up. We could be brilliant or utter shite like tonight.
