It amounts to the same thing regardless. Corruption is defined as being guilty of dishonest practices and lacking integrity, both of which you could accuse a referee of if he allows his bias to influence his decisions.
He definitely could* have been sent off, which is why he got hooked. Thiago also could have got a second yellow. The fact you folk can remember decisions against us from 3 years ago, but not those for us last month kinda proves @Ramblerās point.
I guarantee every single fan forum has this same discussion. Thereās no institutional corruption, brown envelopes etc. Thatās just ridiculous as it would be impossible to hide.
We do seem to get more decisions against us and many rationale factors have been suggested for that. IMO is that weāre so nice. Weāre the fairest team in the world, and refs are influenced by shithouses. Itās the downside of Klopp assembling a squad of really decent human beings
Even he was finally fed up with it I have very rarely heard him question decisions at the end of the game like he did but not in a bitter tone but just a passing remark about atkinsons reffing. I have to add that I lined up the kick of the ball with Bobbyās position no way was he offside. He made sure he was behind the FB until the last minute before moving still looking at the passer of the ball.
In regards to the bottom part, havenāt we won the fair play award year after year? So how does that explain the amount of non given fouls against us and again this suggests we arenāt a physical team. Within that we are pro active as In winning the ballback but arenāt a ādirtyā team, whereas Man City have a reputation of being a snide team and refs should know this.
Its not institutional corruption though. Its bias at least and perhaps corruption at an individual level.
And yes, we are too nice. Also a factor, though less than you suggest.
Also, my memory is pretty good. I just donāt agree on Milner vs City.
Itās incredible the fact James Milner could have been given a 2nd yellow card in a match 7 months ago is the example being used to counteract those claiming we get shafted on a regular basis.
Iām pretty sure Ronnie Whelan also got away with a sly one at Southampton around March 1984ā¦
There are numerous definitions of the word corruption. The ones I used are from the Cambridge Dictionary so thatās good enough for me.
You can split hairs as much as you like but if a referee goes onto a pitch and allows his personal bias to influence his decisions against one team in particular then that is dishonest behaviour and a lack of integrity, both of which are given as examples of corruption.
To save further argument Iāll continue to view the fact certain referees fuck us over at every opportunity as corruption and you continue to view it as bias but at the end of the day the result is the same, no?
