Post Match: Southampton v Liverpool (EPL 4/1/21 8pm)

Neither was the Joe Gomez “handball” at Man City earlier this season. They still got a penalty.

My old dad told me when I was a kid that it wasn’t always easy watching Liverpool.
He also said, its the days they play great and go on to win things, that make the journey all the more memorable…!
We will win the league this season. Jurgen won’t settle for that crap on show last night.

If we do can you imagine the meltdown elsewhere,it’ll be bigger than the current meltdown on here.

I’m not sure if it’ll be sweeter to win the Prem than last year’s after a 30 year wait but it’ll be close.

18 Manchester City

Of course there’s no agenda in favour of manure.

I do get the impression that their players go down like a sack of spuds if touched. Our players could probably do that as well but as a fan I want to see goals from open play. Surely with VAR it would give the option to go back if no shooting opportunity arises but the officials take the route of “no theatrics, no contact”.

Was browsing SSN today - carra saying no pen for the challenge on Mane. Shame he didn’t talk about consistency in the decisions as we know that’s been given to other teams.

Carra has sold out to Sky.

I fine if the challenge on mane isn’t a penalty, if that’s the bar we’re setting. I’d just like to know why it is if it’s Harry Kane or Bruno Fernandes.

As always it isn’t the decision, it’s the consistency. Utd dug our another win at the weekend because Pogba kicked himself in the box.

Yes agree - it’s not a penalty in my book - but VAR makes it one all to often…for other teams!

Carragher was the Nat Phillips of his day…
Don’t ever remember him saying LFC need to buy a centre half in his day to replace him.!
Can’t stand listening to the guy, or reading his statements of logic anymore

It’s like saying Rhys can take VVD’s place.

Yeah, the kid is good; but not that good, yet.

@cynicaloldgit has good 10-15 years in him.

Now that the dust has settled on last night’s match, and with time to think about the various incidents without being in a ‘heat of the moment’ situation, Marriner’s performance looks more and more suspect.
He’s not one of the ‘usual suspects’ as I tend to view them. Ok, he missed the foul on Salah leading up to Fulham’s goal a few weeks ago but apart from that I thought he reffed that game fairly.
I don’t know what’s changed in the meantime, maybe he’s only just got the memo or they’ve all been reminded of their responsibilities but his performance last night is suspect in the extreme. I’ve said all season the Goodison derby is the most corrupt game of football I’ve ever seen played in this country but that last night, viewed in the cold light of day, is up there with it.
A free-kick for nothing resulting in a goal, 2 yellow cards in the first 15 minutes for the sort of things Pogba, Fernandes etc get away with as a matter of routine, Salah being manhandled right in front of the linesman, the defender pulling off one of the saves of the season, the clear foul on Mane in the box, the red card tackle by Walcott, Mane being held on the edge of the box…even the finger jabbing and facial expression towards Trent in the first 5 minutes…the whole fucking thing stinks to high heaven.
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

Carragher is a fucking prick, simple as that.

Dont let your feelings about Everton supporters get in the way now.

Which challenge on Sadio?
This one

or this one, for which Sadio got a yellow

And just to remind ourselves, this is the standard set by manure:

Thanks for posting.

I wouldn’t have given any of them to be honest but the consistency stinks.

Just to avoid any doubt that walcott might have “got the ball”, he doesn’t.

Two feet off the ground, two footed lunge, takes out the player, makes no contact with the ball but hey, that’s alright. Play on.

I think the first might get given if Mane doesn’t have a think about it and then decide to go down.

Another case where a player is effectively punished for trying to stay on his feet. That’s happened to Mane twice in consecutive games.

He wasn’t on the pitch because he was the best person for the job. Hugo’s just taller so he got the CB birth.
