Ahh Mason, doesn’t surprise me.
So there already IS a template for the EPL or PGMOL or whoever is in charge of the match officials to follow. Hopefully some teams/owners can point them in that direction.
You must be confident we will get a fair motley of officials I will bet on Taylor being in the VAR room and Coote the ref
With moss as the touch judge
A lot of great stuff covered in this thread but I just wanted to specifically say:
Shout to Ings for a beautifully taken goal. That was some effort. Even after the horrific giveaway by Trent, Ingsy still had work to do. That was no “gimme” or tap-in. That was a world class finish.
Shout to Ralph for the job he’s done at Southampton. He is universally beloved by their supporters and has transformed the identity of their club. They revere him the same way we revere The Boss. I mentioned in the match thread, Southampton reminds me of us in The Boss early days. Same spirit, same personality, same solidarity, same energy and work rate. And I have ZERO problem with the emotion Ralph showed. I’ve seen some negative comments from our supporters about Ralph, post match, and I couldn’t disagree more. That was a big win for him and he was very happy for his boys and IMO that was a genuine release of emotions. The Boss didn’t seem to like it but too bad. He’s also no stranger to “in the moment” type moments.
I don’t know what to say about our boys other than we are way off form. Everything about our attack has grown stale and I’m not quite sure why. It’s all quite puzzling. I am oversimplifying, but it’s strange to me we don’t attack more through the middle when our play on the wings is being stifled or our fullbacks are struggling. Very little creativity or adjustment when our game isn’t working.
Currently very little cohesion or togetherness in our front 3. They’re all freelancing. Sadio works his socks off but he’s playing like the 2012 Olympics version of Sadio. Same moves, over and over and trying too much 1:1 while running up a cul-de-sac. Mo looks oddly disengaged and disinterested, and Bobby is struggling mightily with confidence. They’re playing freelancing street ball.
Trent needs to give his head a check. He is at a “definable” moment in his career where he needs to check himself. The Boss will be the first person to say, the measure of a player is how they respond in adversity or when times are tough. Anyone can be a sunshine patriot when times are great. Trent’s body language and attitude has been really poor. His play on the pitch even worse.
We are in a rough patch at the moment. No doubt the boys will get this righted but it doesn’t feel great. I don’t want to make this bigger than it needs to be or be overly dramatic, but it just feels like something isn’t right with our aura or our personality. Tense, pensive, nervous, and a lot of whining. The Boss needs to chill with his fixture congestion talk or about “being tired” Bc we had the most favorable schedule over the festive period. And IMO the worst possible thing he could do right now is field a “weakened” team in the Cup. That would send a terrible message IMO.
I agree the only way we’ll get fair refs is to get them from Europe
Every team we come up against are defending against us in numbers, the proverbial two banks of four, or more, and its working. Before that they tried to snuff out the space for our full backs. We’ve been sussed out. Klopp needs a Plan B, and unfortunately that requires $$$$$, added with the need for a CB we will just have to grind it out for the time being. But we need a big No 9 who can, in the case of two banks of four, rise up and nod one in, or bully his way into goal. We just dont have this type of player; Origi looks the part but we all know parts are for actors.
Don’t hold your breath, mate.
Can I just say
What a fucking goal from Danny Ings
I could be wrong but to me he is ‘saying’ "I cant’t be bothered with defending, I just want to go forward and play the deciding pass.
I am hoping not, but maybe the right side of the team have become glory hunters.!
We have Jota for that,ok he may not be 6ft+ but he’s an aggressive type of player that doesn’t get bullied off the ball and can cause problems in the box, plus scores with his head,we just need him to get back fit and on the pitch again ASAP.
I think a huge part of our issues atm is spread across multiple reasons, loss of form,Injuries, team selection AND poor ref decisions.I think a huge part is the full backs, they have been a massive part of our game for the past 3 years, you can forgive Trent and Robbo a dip in form but it’s come at a time when our main CB’s are out,i get the feeling without Virgil or Matip at the back, both full backs are 50/50 about leaving space inbehind and our defence left wide open, which inturn is stopping them having a clear focus of pushing forward and creating goal scoring chances, when Virgil is at the back.
To then lose our driving force in midfield with Hendo at the back, plus all the front 3 having a dip in form at the same time isn’t helping much either,i think regardless of who we play from now on,Hendo is a must in midfield and Phillips or Williams partner Fab at the back.
We should have bought a belter centre midfielder who can carve open a packed defence with a killer pass.
There is hardly any space for that pass, with most opposing teams defending in numbers. We just cant get around the back or turn them around. Added with, we are then vulnerable on the counter attack with stand in CBs.
Yes its usually an encircling of problems; I also think the move from Melwood will have unsettled the club, and it will take time to become accustomed to Kirkby.
I hear Any Carroll is back into scoring form. or maybe we can get Benteke back from Palace? or maybe Balotelli, I hear he’s back training again with a 3rd div club in Italy? Rickie Lambert, anyone?
Target man #9’s have never had success in this club as it’s not our style of play. just let that thought get out of your head.
Granted, it was a long time ago but John Toshack disagrees.
As does Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski all says hi.
Just been looking at a few articles about the PL referees who were caught ‘partying’ in Indonesia last year.
The 4 who appeared to be up to no good were Marriner, Atkinson, Friend and Coote.
When there was a thread on here a while back where bias and corruption against LFC was being discussed some people argued it would be impossible to have whole organisations in on it. Myself and others pointed out that didn’t have to be the case and I remember specifically saying it only needed a number of ‘bad eggs’ getting together socially and it wouldn’t take much for a few with axes to grind and prejudices to start systematically fucking us over.
What a surprise to see these 4 dickheads on a little jolly together.
none of those three have played for LFC? I think you missed the point here. Granted @cynicaloldgit has pulled a name out of his hat from the 70’s (signed for the club 50 years ago) but other than Crouchie I cannot think of a successful signing for that style of striker in 30 years
I havent missed any point youth. Who said they have to have played for LFC, you? We need a striker, we dont have one. If you disagree Im fine with that. If you want to keep making minutely peripheral points…Im out. So you dont think we need another option up front? Is the main point.
