Extremely quirky that Dier fouls twice before Bobby fouls once and it’s that foul that is penalised.
Just a confusing clusterfuck if you ask me.

Guys, we’re two days on from the match that we won. It does not matter! Stop tying yourselves in knots trying to figure it out.
Not tying myself in knots trying to explain it. It’s dodgy refereeing. It’s not a quirk of the rules, it’s a free kick to us as the original foul should be taken in to account.
I understand the goal not being given. You can’t play advantage and allow fouls by the team because you’ve allowed an advantage. But the first foul should count when no advantage was had. Dier didn’t handball it on purpose because he was to busy with his hands dragging Bobby.
We didn’t get ‘lucky’ with the Son offside. It’s offside by the rules. So no luck involved. Honestly state of some of you.
Another thing, Atkinson was remarkably fair in his refereeing? I listed above a number of let’s say ‘strange’ decisions.
This is totally wrong.
The advantage doesn’t end as soon as a player touches the ball, and in any case Firmino ‘handballed’ it as he was getting fouled, not after the foul was committed, so there is no argument that says Liverpool have played their advantage.
It’s a legitimate goal or a Liverpool free kick, there’s no intelligent argument for anything else. Less a quirk of the rules, more a quirk of the FA’s recruitment process. Clowns.
You again, insults!! Ya might wanna stick me on ignore then, both barrels here!

For a short while I thought you were a hard case adult, skins avatar and all.
I was wrong
You can have whatever you like, doesn’t alter him intentionally moving his arm to the ball. QED hand-ball. Unless you saw it differently? Maybe from a long way away or without glasses?
I saw it correctly
You, in a search for fairness saw it incorrectly
But thats not new.
enjoyed the game, important win and 3 points more to our tally. Hoping this is a start of an unending winning run. Is that too much of a dream?

I’m pretty sure that once Atkinson has played on and allowed play to develop for a further 10 seconds, ending in a goal, he can’t pull back for a free kick to us. I think that’s the rules.
Must be a generational thing Quicksand. Talk to someone in the pub like that and you get fronted up.
So if you can’t pull the play back after 10 seconds the goal should stand.
Funny how we keep getting shafted by the ‘rules’.
Funny how we keep getting shafted by the ‘refs’.
More appropriate maybe?
nope i still dont agree.
the goal cant stand as Firmino has handballed it in the aftermath of the advantage period.
i 100% agree Dier fouled first, the ref (we assume) is giving LFC the advantage, so we are on the same page there, theres a three second grace to advantage being played, in that three seconds Firmino handballs it.
just because we have been given advantage to play on, doesnt mean we can ignore the rules of the game.
in my mind, the ball should come back and be an LFC free kick
im missing something, theres a three second period in the ‘play on’ rule to see if an advantage was actually taken.
which it wasnt. so play should be brought back and free kick awarded to us.
i agree its handball, but its a compromised handball and it really only happens because he is being held.
Then there is no advantage rule. Firminos handball was accidental, due in the main to Dyers foul.
So that has to be discounted.
i dont think you can discount the fact that the ball hit his hand and we gained an advantage from it…
i just cant see where play on is the result of that sequence…
I still think that if we concede that goal and it’s allowed to stand, you’re all fuming.
Too bloody right we will, who in their right mind is happy with conceding goals.
Absolutely
That’s not the point though. I agree it shouldn’t stand but it HAS to be our free kick. Surely.

How can the goal not stand and it be our free kick, the only dispute is if our player commits an offence between incident and goal.
In this case the handball by Firmino should not count as it was accidental. Therefore, advantage signals goal.
Also, clear and obvious errors cancel out, there is a passage of play between them and the goal so the goal should stand.
@Mascot
Of course we would be fuming if it was conceded by us. Thats partisan support, but that doesn’t mean we cannot acknowledge that the decision to disallow is incorrect.
