Post match: Spurs v Liverpool (EPL 6/11/22 4.30pm)

Our midfield ran out of steam after 45 minutes.

Trent improved his 1-1 defending pretty quickly upon coming into he side. Where he historically came unstuck was with what was happening off the ball and being alert to those runs (remember those Rashford goals). Once you got the ball to an attackers feet Trent normally handled that pretty well. That is what makes a lot of what we’re seeing this year concerning because thrown in there with the still present failure to read danger there are moments where he’s just beaten all ends up. The sequence that saw him just push Ses to the ground saw him get beaten 3 times by 3 players in the space of about 10 seconds. It was painful.

Other than lack of confidence its difficult to see a reason for that other than just being knackered. I think the best thing that could happen to him would be a calf tweek sustained next week so he can spend a month just totally away from the game recharging.

He realised other forums started saying, ‘Smash them, they’re shit’ about us, and he died of embarrassment.

Henderson would be a starter at 6 for me, especially with the current form of Fabinho.

First game I watched back, I actually felt we defended better than we had done against Forest and Leeds even though Spurs had a few more chances.

It’s not sparkling 100% but it’s built on the back of Napoli game, the team doesn’t have 90 mins in it, I think that’s the issue currently but it showed if you play right you can get the win.

Reminded me of the Westham game actually.

a wee bit late, but happy to have got the 3 points and I hope this gives the lads a massive boost to climb higher.
definitely parts of the game were nervy, and don’t really want to name any individuals because it’s a team game. We play well and win, it’s still a team game, we lose or draw, still a team game and it’s for the coach/manager and players to sort it out. As a supporter, I have to take the pain in games lost ( very very difficult to take, might I add), and great joy when we win. Life is a roller coaster ride,

I agree with the part about our team not being able to manage 90 minutes at high intensity/quality this season. In the previous seasons, we could simply tire, outlast the opponent and grind out wins even when not playing well. I believe we tried to do likewise this season, but fatigue and father time have caught up with some of our key players. The result is a disjointed display over 90 minutes.

However, our overall quality is still better than most teams.

Klopp may have decided that it would be more effective to have a go at the opponent while the team is still fresh. Then soak up pressure when the team tires. Essentially managing sprints during the game rather than treating it like a marathon.

Hopefully this would result in more wins. But the fans would have to get used to more heart in the mouth moments.

Yeah I do think we are evidently trying to play ourselves back into form, Napoli was similar, I said to my friend that the way we played I was happy even without a win, though it was a nice bonus.
