This is really what Simeone and Griezmann felt hard done by?
That’s a straight red in any country, in any league.
Glad this is over. Missed the game. Seemed like it was typical Atleti by the comments here. They should have a red card per game by looks of it. The above high boot looks ridiculous. Hope no one got injured?
Simeone should have been sent off for his antics much earlier.
The biggest thing is we came away without an injury. They’re like the badly written villains in a sports movie.
Edit: And the fuckijg crowd. Why isnt a bigger deal being made of their booing the kneeling before the game. I can understand if someone thinks it’s an empty gesture for a huge problem but to actively boo it? They had black players on the pitch last night…weren’t those guys bothered by it?
Luckily Bobby wasn’t seriously injured. He played the full 90+.
They went after Mane early and it worked. Fouling him every time he touched the ball. He was completely sucked into the mind games. He seemed really agitated and couldn’t get into the flow of the match. Mane is also not getting the benefit of the doubt, he may be getting a reputation. In the 28th minute Kongdobia completely took Sadio to ground with a rough challenge just outside of the box and got none of the ball. Absolutely None of the ball. But the ref yelled play on.
They literally rugby tackled Jota to the ground inside the box, and couldn’t believe a pen was awarded.
Oblak stood over Mo from an inch away running his mouth and was trying to scuff the penalty spot with his boot to play mind games. Mo ignored him, pretended he wasn’t even there, then casually blast the ball by him. Ice water in his veins.
EDIT: I know some supporters are upset with Naby but the second goal wasn’t at all his fault. Joao Felix is one the brightest young footballing talents in the world. Yes, he rinsed Naby but there was still much to be done before that ball went in. Trent decided to simply run next to Felix without any attempt at a challenge. I honestly don’t know what Virgil was doing, he was initially turning the opposite direction Griezmann was running. Not something often seen, but up until being sent off Griezmann was giving Virgil problems. Ali made massive saves to bail out his backline.
I thought both Virgil and Joel struggled.
I wonder why everyone was watching me sideways at the doctor’s waiting room. I was just watching the game on my ipad with headphones on…someone said I was making weird noises and I should tell my doctor…odd.
Oh, and FU disgusting dark arts SMEs (subject matter experts)
- Mo is simply the best player in the universe
- Ali saved us huge. For some reason all the 1v1, i didnt even feel like we were going to concede
- I simply hate the theactrics of Atletico or the spanish teams in general
- Naby, great goal. Needs to work on his defensive aspects of his game.
Well done to the referee on the 2 big decisions the sending off and the non penalty . Horrible team to play against and a Horrible manager. They are the best team by a mile in Spain but with the managers style of play they don’t show it.
Bodes well for Old Trafford !
missed watching the game, but going from the posts on here, looks like we had a bit of luck our way, after going two goals up. But that was deserved because of their shithousery. Really delighted we won, and what’s more , is we scored 3 away goals again. Also kinda sad for football in general, if a manager like theirs cannot use the talent he has to play proper football. He’s probably been influenced by Dyche, fat Sam and their ilk
I imagine he found it easy enough with Suarez.
This is becoming a regular theme with Mané , and the conclusion I draw is that if he stopped throwing himself to the ground so theatrically then we would be getting awarded far more free kicks. He does himself and the team absolutely no favours with that crap.
I’m beginning to like the way Mo seems to have modified his technique… Rather than just lash it in , he’s making the run much longer , giving the goalie much more time to commit himself one way or another and allowing Mo to place it in the opposite corner.
What does that have to do with what I said? As team we can go unbeaten whilst players within the team can be well below their usual level. You believe Henderson has been good this season? Brentford away and City at home two prime examples of him being well off the pace both on and off the ball.
Alisson was the main reason we won that match. They got through to our defence far too easily because midfield offered very little protection. So the winning run stat you speak of has no bearing on Henderson being poor this season.
It isn’t really though. The collective has gone on the unbeaten run but players within the collective have at stages been off form for various reasons. Henderson at the moment is struggling imo and looks off the pace and slow with and without the ball.
Edited for me being a bit of a knob! Apologies.
Absolutely true. In the beginning one could understand the approach because Real and Barca were monsters to compete with. He did compete, won titles and they gained admiration for punching above their weight. Since then they have actually assembled an extremely good team with great technique, pace and vision coupled with a good defence. Some of their play yesterday was crazy good and their running off the the ball and between the lines is wonderful. He still can’t bring himself not to be Burnley on steroids though and the antics on the touchline is outrageously over the top.
They could genuinely be a joy to watch under another manager. Instead they choose to leave a bad taste in the mouth every time they step out onto the pitch. Decent club that I always had a lot of time for in years and decades past but a truly odious manager and psyche permeating through them.
They have previous for this. Pre-pandemic lockdown, the first leg when we lost 1-0, they targeted Mane all that first half, and tried to get him sent off. Klopp subbed Mane off at half time to protect him.
They tried the shit house tactics again on Mane.
Crazy game, I honestly thought we had it sown up at 0-2! The game in two weeks could be even worse as they are going to be desperate to get something out of it. It’s going to be another test for our game management.
