I wish people would take these games in the context as they are, going there is tough and we have struggled to have a shot there let alone win.
The red card is a red card, that foot is way too high. You will always get a reaction from teams in a stadium like that, Man Utd will be the same if we were to go 2-0 up after 15. They didn’t play at the weekend and we did with pretty much 10 of the 11 out there.
Sometimes as we did on the PL winning run you grind out results. Like Palace and Villa away. VVD is still finding his way and it’s good to see Fabinho was more effective than he has been.
Henderson does seem to be off the pace with VVD but both played 90 just a few days back, me and my mate said we would rest Hendo after that so it doesn’t surprise me his game wasn’t great.
Also we go “well Ali saved us” oblivious it seems to the fact that Mendy at the weekend kept Chelsea top.
Only in gold?
That makes Kloppo too cheap.
Let’s see; current gold price is about USD57,000 a kg.
He tips the scales at 91kg.
Surely he’s worth much more than a tad over $5M.
His value is closer to diamonds I would say; in the hundreds of millions.
The age old expression need to be updated.
Yeah, it’s just a metaphor but still…
Yes saw that. I also remember Huddersfield and Sheffield United in their first seasons getting praise for similar results early doors. First season bounce. Time will tell but I bet they end up in the bottom 6.
Edit… SUFC beat Arsenal (1-0), Chelsea (3-0) and Tottenham (3-1) at home
Definitely. Still think he’s (Henderson) working back to full match sharpness after his injury. Can’t be rested this weekend either.
Thought the Ox did well when he came on. Provided energy but also used the ball well and wasn’t running into tackles. Much more intelligent play from him last night.
Nah people here expect us to have complete control in midfield, game management for 90mins, score 5 goals a game without missing any chances, and Mane and Mo to hold hands walking off the pitch after
When we were 0-2 up, I was hoping we could go all the way and destroy them with 4-5-6 goals. Yeah, I was greedy. I f***** despise their football. I wish they would drop out to Europe League. But then our boys made some unusual mistakes (is it just me or Big Virg still lacks quite a bit of his preinjury form?) and there we went. Into their shithousery way. Luckily Ali saved us and ref had some cojones to dissallow their dive.
What I don’t understand is this:
Atletico started to use this s**t tactics when they were underdogs and couldn’t financially compete with Real and Barca. Understandable as it supposed to be the only way to confront the big two. Okay fine.
But now they have better squad then Barca. I think even better than their city rival or at least on par. And they still keep on playing, diving, cheating like years ago. Is Simeone so inept evolving his tactics to try to play some decent attacking football with their top class attackers, top class keeper and very good defenders? Why keep persisting on this antifootball ways?
You’re right about the quality players they have. A leopard doesn’t change it’s spots however. What I don’t understand is why their owners don’t get a proper coach in that can play proper football with the resources at their disposal.
Their fans seem like pricks too though so maybe they’re happy with Simeone.
Unlike his stomping off down the tunnel before shaking hands , you couldn’t even call those remarks ungracious. He’s just being a prick for the sake of it.
Yeah, he has tried to become more expansive a few times with Atletico but he never gets it right and always retracts back into that same style. I think it can definitively be said now that this is just who he is.
A horrible bunch of players and manager especially in their own stadium. It must have been so hard for the lads to focus on the game with so much play acting going on. Fair play to the ref, he made some great decisions and stuck by his guns. Not a good performance but understandable with what was going on. A weaker team would have buckled. Gave Allison my MOM for keeping us in it first half.
