Post match v West Ham (A) (EPL 26/4/23 7:45pm)

Reina one was a 3-0 loss at Goodison

A good win, played some lovely football and dominated until Gakpo went off. Salah as awful tonight, not involved enough and when he was he couldn’t do anything right.

Nope.

Moyes has never beaten us at Anfield. He has, however, beaten us six times when his team has been at home.

I did not expect a win, but I am glad that the lads proved me wrong. West Ham are a solid team, full of very good players - Aguerd, Rice, Bowen, Benrahma, Paqueta. They are set pieces specialists and defend well, but today we prevailed.

Matip with a perfect game, much better than VvD. Trent was like a maestro, dictating the play, dominating and giving us commanding presence in central areas. Robbo solid defensive display and he added another assist.

Fabinho was also really good and was not booked, so he will not miss 2 games. Special compliments for Jones. I have criticized him very in the past, because he tends to keep the ball too much, but looks like he has improved that aspect of his game. His last 3 matches were really impressive, a pressing machine, passing was almost perfect and today showed physical strength when he clashed with Rice and Soucek.

Hendo disappointed me, passing was poor and still have to watch the replay, but think he did not follow his man - Paqueta for their goal.

Gakpo - getting better and better and it is not his goal, but his overall play, he keeps the ball under pressure, press with purpose, great passer and a very intelligent player. It is not a coincidance that in a second consecutive game after he is substituted we lose the grip of the game.

Jota and Mo did not have their best match. Disappointed with Nunez’s cameo, but I think we will see his best version next season, when he fully adapts to our football and hopefully improves his English. Diaz with 30 minutes, much better first 15 and then invisible in the final 15 minutes.

Now, let’s hope that Everton will do us a favour.

Just read Moyes has never won away at Liverpool, Arsenal, chelsea or utd.

18 points to play for. It seemed impossible. Still unlikely, but maybe possible?

Funny now that the Bitters have no option but fight for us tomorrow, or else they are in trouble. What a joy if they beat Newcastle tomorrow, and then still get relegated somehow.

With Spurs it’s more tricky, is it pointless for us to have them beat Utd, who seem too far out of reach, and it’s better to consolidate getting ourselves above them on the table (a very weird sentence, admittedly), or are they going to mess up their remaining run in anyway, like they usually do, and it doesn’t hurt to beat Utd anyway…

I think it is one of those that is genuinely ok either way*. There have been other instances (WHU earlier in the season) where they did get away with it.

  • but I would have been more disappointed if it had been given (to us or them) as it would have been a wrong decission

Don’t understand this. We’re only 6 behind United. Spurs are sinking like a stone. We want them to hammer United on the way down

Yes we do. What did I say?

Why do you think John Henry was there?

He’s watched Ted Lasso S3 and wanted to come and see a bit of West Ham and Nate the Great?

Entirely possible if Forest perform like they are and Leicester beat them.

Fair play Dutch. It is good to see you admit he played well.

Second part of your post is dubious though.

Three or four times.

Great night all up.

We win and Goldbridge is on a rant about Ratcliffe.

No idea tbh

He wanted to get some bargains down Spitafields, Petticoat Lane, Roman Road and Brick Lane markets.

On handball shouts to me, it is all about the distance from the ball and intent, it hit his hand off a ricochet off his challenge with no intent and the distance was too close so he had no chance to get his arm hand out of the way of the ball and he was also moving his hand to break his fall
