Mental fatigue as well. There’s been such a short turnaround this year. I think given all the circumstances this season will be tough.
Beg to differ Mascot. This absolutely changed overnight: now it’s five games in two years.
Klopp OUT
FSG OUT
It’s five now?
I hope that this huge slap in the face will bring a réaction. Because it was, I think, the first time that almost none of our passes did not reach a team mate.

So all our passes reached a team mate?
So all our passes reached a team mate?
Passing the covid,yes,yes we did.
Almost
Sorry for the mistake, it is without the double negation of course
They are an injury to Grealish away from being an ordinary team. He was at the heart of everything they did well.
Its gonna be a tight season with serious fixture congestion and they dont have alot of depth either I think they could easily fall into a hole and be part of the relegation scrap
Firmino best attributes now are pressing and passing. And it would serve well further back in midfield at this stage.
I disagree. His best attribute is making things happen in tight spaces, which is why dropping him deeper blunts him rather than gets him more involved. He is also a high risk player who loses the ball a fair amount. We are somewhat protected against that with him being a striker, hell it even can be seen as part of the strategy as it’s not the worst thing in the world to lose the ball in the attacking third if we can win it back quickly. But when he’s in our own half, we ourselves are only a couple of passes away from a shot at goal (see villa’s 6th goal, I think).
Have I got over the last ‘result’…no, but I have stopped feeling sick…I keep thinking yes it looked 7:2 so 7-2=5, 3 we scored, so really we lost 2:0…but I get the impression now that football critics, commentators and even other players can now slag off any LFC player, they are all rubbish playing for their countries, they’re all rubbish playing for LFC…and every other team in the Prem are wonder boys…they really didn’t like us winning the league did they…end of rant…so chaps and chapessess’s…I’m sticking to the 2:0…
It’s starting to feel like we’re the Millwall of the Premier League.
Everybody seems to hate us for some reason. I’ve stopped listening to Talksport, I get too angry.

I was looking at him in more of a 10 position… So he will still be making things happen… Not deep midfield…
Another thing is that when any one of Salah or Mane is out… He looks even worse up top as the false 9. And doesn’t give much goal production…
Our formidable trio looks great when all are fit and firing. Take Mane or Salah out… The trio turns to One. As Firmino more often than not disappears… Having a true striker that presses ahead of him imo would work. And I know that’s hard to find.
I also understand your point. But he wouldn’t be the last player in front the defence should he lose the ball to leave them exposed.
I don’t mind being disliked by some… it’s the old thing of when you are at the top you are there to be shot at. I’d much prefer being winners and having them spit jealous bile at us, than also-rans who pick up a lot of goodwill.
We go about our business the right way. We aren’t an oil club or an oligarch club. We are fair on the pitch. We have money, not loads, but a decent amount from being a well run club. We have a great team and squad and the best manager in the game.
There’s a lot for others to be jealous about.
Agree…its just 'cause of ‘that’ score, our boys are now crap at everything…and everyone seems to think we’re at the bottom of the league …cmon people’s give credit where credit is due.
No way will Villa be fighting relegation this season. They will be particularly hard to beat with prudent use of the playing conditions they create.
Changing something like a complete defensive strategy mid game would be very difficult and dangerous.
I know Souness took a lot of stick for his remarks about long grass but sactually I think he was right. It was long and dry causing the ball to drag making it verty difficult for dribbles and for our short ,sharp passing game. ( Just before anyone starts shouting rubbish I suggest you watch the game again, possibly 5 times like me). It is not a new ploy. Pullis did it at Stoke and undone us in a similar, but less spectacular, way.Leaving the pitch dry accentuates the effect.Wengers Arsenal , famous for their short passing game, also came up against it more than once and even Real Madrid used it against Barca when Barca were at the height of their " tiki taka game ( or whatever they called it.) It is not illegal.
I am not suggesting this would have made the difference between winning and losing on this occasion but there is no doubt it was a big advantage to Villa

You’ve made a few comments now about the grass being dry and slow to play on. Was that really the case? If so Adrian’s pass was even worse.
I have now watched the match many times and there is no doubt the pitch played slow. I think Gini " sussed " it quite early as his pass to Jota in the build up to our first goal was chipped although there was plenty of space to play it on the deck. Not sure Adrians pass would have been even worse as it would have at least forced Grealish wider and then the whole scenario changes.
Not sure Adrians pass would have been even worse
Perhaps, but I mean that given the pass was meant for Gomez it would have been an even worse pass to him.
Yes , no doubt it was an awful pass and a bad decision to make that pass but had it sent Grealish wider Gomez would have had more time to close Grealish down. At the end of the day no matter what the conditions are teams have to adapt to them and we were awful . The disappointing thing was that our heads seemed to go very early.Hopefully it will be better next time but I think Everton will be a similar team to Villa and if we try to slow the game down from the first whistle we could have a similar problem. Time will tell.
