You can tell when the home fans feel they stole a game by the noise they make. It was an early X-Mas for them!
Some observations not limited to the last night’s game:
- We have conceded 14 goals in six games.
- We have conceded 16 goals in 17 games.
- We have kept nine clean-sheets in 16 games.
- We had our first-choice backline throughout that spell.
- Team can catch us on the break, too easily.
- We seem to be dominated/intimidated by physical play.
- We seem to lack the hunger/toughness of the 18/19 and 19/20 seasons.
Onwards and upwards, YNWA
I would hope it would motivate us…plus I’m just hoping:pray:
Completely agree with this. The more I hear him as a commentator, the more I come to realise what a f°©∆¡~@ idiot this guy is.
This is monstrous. I couldn’t watch the first half hour and missed that. We can count ourselves lucky that Hendo survived this without taking any injury. It’s an intentional, dangerous, reckless assault. Worthy of a red without any shadow of a doubt.
Who was on VAR yesterday I wonder? But even without VAR, the ref should have called it all day long.
So much for ‘the best league in the world’. Meh, rather one of the very worst, at least in terms of refereeing, bias and at times, plain corruption. Fuck the PL.
I turned the sound off after their 1st goal, because I knew what was coming.
Pogba was sent off for a similar challenge, yet Cresswell stays on the pitch?? If anything, the Cresswell incident looked worse, because it was very high.
Still a bit disappointed in this one. It was one of those games that just had “that bad feeling about this” written all over for some reason. Refereeing poor again, even from a VAR perspective but West Ham were worth their win. If we could have sneaked a draw I’d have been happy given how we were playing.
I cant really say where the fault was to be honest which is the weird thing about it.
Mane had one of those days again. If Jota had been on the end of the two chances Mane missed, I suspect the scoreline would’ve been different.
We’ve banked 287 points in the last 125 league games, at 2.296 a game.
Shitty at 288 for 2.304 a game, btw…
Seems all that doom is not so gloom, imo.
I’m not arsed with the results or our standing, there’s 27 more games to come and lot will change over the course of those games. I’m just bothered that something seems off in our games.
I think the Cresswell one is much worse than Pogba’s. He’s higher, connects with both knees, and absolutely nowhere near the ball.
Same on BBC
We were spoilt by the exploits of 97 and 99 points…
Fecking hard act to follow.
I’m also astounded that there wasn’t a single hair out of place on Cresswell’s head after the challenge. That must be some magic gel going on right there.
Where have I seen this before??
Referee and VAR were pretty much made of the same stuff
Some constructive feedback for Jordan. Jamie Redknapp’s take on it.
I hate seeing players get sent off but that is a reckless challenge.
His foot is high. It’s aggressive. I’ve seen players get sent off for a lot worse than that. I think what does help is that Jordan Henderson got up so quickly. He did him a right favour.
It was an aggressive challenge. If it had been given as a red, I don’t think there would have been any complaints whatsoever.
I think it does help when you’ve got someone who gets up so quickly. If they roll around, they stay down, it might have been different. I think he’s very lucky there Cresswell.
Yep we always been a bit of a soft touch but from last season onwards we’ve lost our street smarts completely.
Even things like tactical fouls, Milner is the only one who will take a yellow if we are being countered for example.
What he implies there is that Hendo should have shown a little bit more gamesmanship on that occasion. Stay lying on the ground a bit longer, just to see if it influences the ref. When you know that you have to deal with idiots, why not take advantage of it?
Same for what happened to Allisson: if you notice that the ref leaves the goalie unprotected, why not trying to barge into the goalie on the next corner, just to see if that goes through too?
I’m not saying that the players should go full Souness, but I feel that at times, they are too honest. And that plays out to their disadvantage because as we know, honesty is seldom rewarded in football, and even less so in the PL.
Well if you say it, then it must be so
Exactly, there is a line not to cross but we are so far away from that line…
My biggest gripe is not the woeful officiating against us it’s the fact we let it affect our game. Yes Alisson is fouled for the goal, so what it happens… He loses his head and is flapping from every other corner.
Need to stop feeling sorry for ourself in games, we need to channel the frustration into a positive.
This isn’t a singular occasion either, countless times we’ve been on the end of a wrong decision and our entire team shit the bed.
What made us great was this siege mentality, a sheer bloody mindedness that it didn’t matter what you did we’d find a way to win. Klopp needs the team to rediscover that quickly.
