Post Match: West Ham - Liverpool (PL; 7/11/21)

Klopp really really pissed at the reffing standard and rightly so

Only Fabs conceded possession easily, Hendo and AOC were fine. Then saying that I wouldn’t start a match without Fabs unless forced to. Robbo keeping to game plan caused some problems and our forwards weren’t great at keeping the ball.
You make it sound as if we were dominated, we weren’t!

people sayin ali was bad…can the goal keeping experts tell us what he was supposed to do on those two corners? None of our players protected him even though everyone knew what WH were doing and was going to do to him. TAA went out on a picnic on that 3rd goal and left that post wide open as he usually does on defence. Ali can maybe be blamed for not making a save on the 2nd goal, but the rest of it is not on him

We were dominated at key moments is a better way of putting it maybe. Second half, they definitely had the run of us I think. Maybe it didn’t seem that way as we had long spells of possession, but we didn’t exactly do very much with it.

Erm. 1-1 with us then cutting open WH leading to Mane having a shot on goal in the centre of the penalty area with the keeper stationary?

This game could’ve been 4-2 to either side. One of those where the team that gets the roll of the dice wins the game.

All this despite us having not just an off day, but collective individual mistakes.

Nine times out of ten, Ali would’ve got a stronger hand to WH’s second goal. He would’ve punched the ball for the first goal. A game of small margins.

Yes WH “deserved” to win, whatever that means. Yet we could’ve easily had this game 4-1 with the rub of the green.

Agree. We left ourselves exposed too many times with a simple ball into space. Our pressing was sub par.

like we all have been shouting from the rooftops for last few weeks… our midfield is gonna cause us problems and lose us points

I don’t agree sorry, we were 2nd best all over the park. The amount of time we turn over possession in the final 3rd which leads to a counter attack is double figures every single game… Which for a team that currently have forgotten how to defend its madness.

agreed, but thats nothing new. Love the man but he’s always been too slow and reactionary with subs - very rare than he makes a proactive sub.

"It’s really interesting you ask that. I’m not sure I want to answer the question if you don’t know the situation I’m talking about. Do you not think [Alisson was impeded for the first goal]? Is your job not to have an opinion? Okay that’s nice.
"We saw it back, Alisson wants to go for the ball, Angelo Ogbonna hits Alisson’s arm with his arm, that’s why Alisson’s arm deflects the ball into the goal.
"There are countries where everyone would say that’s a foul. The keeper must get help, otherwise in these situations everybody runs at the keeper because he must make sure he gets the ball. But he has no chance because if he pushes, it’s a penalty."-Klopp

Carra called both right. Wasn’t a foul on Ali but should def have been a red for Cresswell. No excuse for how we played today

Problem is not that the situation is dire, I think Chelsea face a few tricky ties post the break and so do Man City and West Ham.

It’s the fact that we seem to have an ability to shoot ourselves in the foot. We never really looked in control.

Only positive to take from the last two weeks is we don’t need to really take the last two European games seriously and looking at the performances of some they could do with a rest. I think others need to use those games as match fitness to be fair.

It’s why I feel we aren’t good enough for the title this season. If the facts change I’ll change my mind but it’s going take a winning run up to the Chelsea game.

Good points…players should have protected Ali… its so so simple to do as well. our player jus pushes himself between Ali and the WH… you cant expect Ali to fight 2 battles all by himself… btw, FUCK carra…

Geez WH, Rice and Moyes acting like they have won the league

It’s fine to be pissed, they were weak decisions but why does the side continually allow any sort of decision against us make us lose our heads? It’s a malaise we need to sort out quick.

We dominated when we were losing because West Ham were happy to sit back but when West Ham weren’t winning they came out to play and troubled us. It was good game management by West Ham. Not something that could be said about Liverpool this season.

I saw it this way too. But even so, Ali should’ve still done better.

If not red, a yellow. If not yellow, then a freekick.

But no, all we get is the look of destain from Pawson yet again. Had it been Penandes, he would’ve rolled around with Ronaldo berating Pawson for a red, which VAR would’ve served up for the Mancs on a plate.

TAA gets a yellow for a failed pull, and Zouma no yellow for stopping Jota on the counter. Obvious what Zouma was up to, as their set piece failed and they were for once out of position. Even worse, Pawson blows his whistle early to not give the advantage. At least give a yellow if you’re gonna so that.

But WH overall played their well drilled counter game and set piece play to perfection. Mind you, even though we were sub par, on another day a brace from Mane and we’d have got the three points.

They’ve lost 3 but are 2 points behind

I suppose its a godsend that it’s a home game…

Can probably add Mane to that. Outstanding game against AM, but other than that not much to speak of this season.
