Post match: West Ham v Liverpool (EPL 31/1/21

Point for me is Mane was going for the ball, couldn’t see the City keeper who was sweeping a good 35 yards from his goal wasn’t he?

I hope the striker wasn’t too badly injured.

sometimes I do think refs have an agenda against us, especially as most of our lads (if not all) are not aggressive players. Not saying, our lads don’t commit fouls, all players do, just think refs know our lads won’t surround them on “iffy” decisions and they(refs) take full advantage of that . my red-tinted glasses are always on

anyway 3 points another step upwards and 3 fantastic goals to boot!

From Law 12, which is fouls and misconduct:

PLAYING IN A DANGEROUS MANNER

Playing in a dangerous manner is any action that, while trying to play the ball, threatens injury to someone (including the player themself) and includes preventing a nearby opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury.

A scissors or bicycle kick is permissible provided that it is not dangerous to an opponent.

A bicycle/scissor kick is an art form and I agree that allowances should be made. But in this match, the West Ham player is not in control of that ball - it bounced way too far away from him and at the hight he tried to execute the kick in a crowded penalty area, it’s just asking for trouble. It’s at head height at a set piece in a crowded area.

We all know why he didn’t get a card - it’s because Henderson didn’t do a Man Utd special and roll around on the floor. Imagine Bruno there instead, it would’ve been an instant red card and three match ban for the West Ham player, as Bruno would’ve milked it to death.
