Post match: Wolves v Liverpool (EPL 3/3/26 8.15pm)

No deal - I’m with @RedOverTheWater above.

yeah but Hodgson had his team filled out with Joe Cole, Poulsen and Konchesky… maybe Slot takes that team down?

its a moot point though, and by zeroing down on it (me, not you) it does feel a bit disrespectful, so ill leave it where it is, but, yeah…in this moment, the comment ‘worse than Hodgson’ is not as outlandish as it seems.

Jones had no option and played a pass to Ali’s right foot for an easy clearance which should have been a driven clearance rather than the poor curled effort he tried, but then agin we still had plenty of bodies between the player an the goal and not for the 1st time no one closed down the man in possession who took the shot.

I remember something being said about Arne wants our players to pass the ball, say from Ibou to Virg who then passes it to Kerkez, rather than Ibou taking the 1 pass direct route to Kerkez.

The supposed idea is that it makes the defenders work harder, which I think is rubbish, when it is played ‘how Arene wants’ then it is slower and an opposition player then has to move less and also slower to keep position and therefore uses less energy.

If we switch play quickly, then the whole team has to address it’s shape and positioning, this works even better if we play vertical passes then play wide as the opposition has to keep working harder to keep covering.

What we are doing at the moment just doesn’t effect the oppositions fitness, either mentally or physically.

Jones could have / should have just hoofed it upfield once he’d won possession. Instead he just sauntered his way towards our six yard box creating the panic which unnerved Ali and led to the shit clearance.

He never had a real angle on his right side for an effective long clearance and played it back to the keepers strongest foot to hopefully get a better chance of clearing it, Ali’s technique that he chose to use was the main issue.

Possibly but the hyperbole on some posts that suggest we should send half the team to the glue factory and then Slot isn’t doing enough with the glue factory is hard to connect.

Yeah, but who used that glue as it would be soft and definitely not stubbornly sticky

yeah its a bit of a odd moment… FWIW i think the squad is very good, i certainly think a new manager could get a tune out of it…

certainly doesnt feel like overhaul stuff to me, i do however think that we are a bit unbalanced…

i get the feeling Slot has checked out a bit, mentally. i dont mean that in a horrible ‘hes a cunt’ way… just everything feels like the squad and the manager are just playing out the season… its bizarre, becuase we still have stuff to play for…

the energy levels are what i base this on, theres just no urgency to anything we do…even the good players justseem to want this nightmare over…

Salahs just as likely to fire next season…i know that sounds way off the charts of probability, and i wouldnt be smashing out big money on it…

I rewatched the game and what incensed me the most is that in the build up to the Wolves goals at least 5 or 6 of our players were either jogging back or walking back gazing at their teammates struggling to stop them scoring.
IMO that’s the reason we conceded the winning goal 5 times post 90 minutes.

I think the real question there is what balance is that, between mentality and conditioning?
