Low trajectory straight down the centre of the pitch. I’d be disappointed if my lad did that for the U11s
I think he’s having a very poor season with the ball at his feet (which may have something do with him worrying about his dodgy hamstrings), but the idea he has never been any good is frankly absurd.
Wait a minute, you do know that the team is now advertising Tommy Hilfiger when they enter the stadium, right? You really can’t and shouldn’t blame them for that, because it’s more or less forced upon them and will probably stay that way for a while. Criticizing it is a bit ridiculous TBF.
We became “Fashion FC” for financial reasons; there are certainly worse things one could advertise.
Perhaps it also has to do with the new goalkeeping coach or the change of the goalkeeping team. Presumably, quite a few things have changed there.
"While there are issues out of Slot’s control, others fall firmly in his remit. Liverpool’s tepid starts to matches has been a feature of their displays all season, along with the propensity to concede late on.
*Van Dijk argued that the nature of the goals they have conceded after the 90th minute of matches have all been different, but the point is that Slot’s side have repeatedly eschewed control and solidity, only to be floored by a sucker punch after finding a way back into the game."…
Slot’s answer that losing to Wolves was the “same old story” does not reflect well on him. It is all very well going for victories, but it should not then jeopardise leaving with a point — especially when it has happened so often previously in what is a tight race for a Champions League spot. So, come on Virgil.
You guys are all professionals; Premiership and CL winners. Reigning Champions FFS!
Even if you’ve lost faith in Arne, can’t you lot sort this shit out between yourselves?
Actually, I didn’t. That might account for something. And yes, I’d rather it was that than some gambling concern.

You can recognize them because they all always wear clothes in Hilfiger colors: red, white, and blue.
He also bought Conchesky much to our dismay.
And Poulsen, who might be the worst play to ever wear the shirt.
What really annoyed me after we equalised we didn’t try to hold on to a point we instead went gung ho trying to win. We have done that 7 more times before, out of nine losses we could have got 8 points for draws we would be on 53 points in the champions league spot.

Stevie looked more than a tad annoyed in the post-match wrap
I agree with you about going ‘gung ho’ after equalising, I was prepared to settle for a point at that stage of the game. Having said that, we did have an opportunity to make it 2-1, but Salah was incapable of playing a simple pass to Szobo, who was in oceans of space. I’m also sick of us conceding very late goals this season and it isn’t just games we’ve lost, we also conceded at the death to Leeds and Fulham, there’s two games which cost us four points.
If he is the solution, then its too slow a fix. He is probably the problem. Which is difficult to take.
Yeah. Thats how I feel. I keep telling myself he cant be that bad he won the PL last season.
But I guess that was the blend of Klopps embedded demanding style overlaid with Slots less intense, duller keep ball tactics. With the passage of time and personnel changes Klopps influence has been eradicated and what we have now is pure Slot which is unacceptable.
A false dawn, disappointing and very sad but his time is up.
It’s not absurd at all, he’s been terrible with the ball at his feet from day 1.
I didn’t see the game, so can’t comment on the performance, but it’s a concerning result. CL participation very much in the balance, just when we could have put Chelsea under a bit of pressure… instead of this, they’ll think that given our inconsistency, they still have a chance for that fifth place…
Anyway, there’s no other choice but to stand up again and struggle on with this mess of a season. Hopefully the squad can regroup and pull off a better result next time.
It is absurd. He isn’t Ederson, but he has always been good with distribution, and comfortable with the ball at his feet.
I agree his kicking has been shocking this season.
Slip Sliding Away. The Paul Simon song. It’s the gradual loss of something, despite efforts to hold on.
I think that’s about where it’s at with Slot. I’m sure there will be an end of season review, and rightly so, but it feels to me as though there’s an air of inevitability that this is slip sliding away from him.
I would have thought we would need to do something very special, and unexpected at this point, to change Slot’s trajectory.
As for the team and squad, I do not think a massive overhaul is needed, at all. Minimum of three good signings - winger, defender, midfielder - and we are good to go, at least in terms of personnel.
At that point they will need to be fashioned (not an intentional Tommy Hilfiger reference!) into a cohesive unit, coached well and playing with belief.
I can’t help but think it’s a job for Xabi Alonso. The personnel are mostly in place for a title challenge, a few more signings and we go again for the next cycle. But I’m coming around to the view that Slot won’t be at the helm. It’s slip sliding away.
I think Alisson has been pretty good with the ball at his feet since we signed him. If Ederson set the bar at 10/10 for what a goalie can do with his feet, Alisson has been a solid enough 7/10 in that department. (When the other aspects of his game are factored in he has been world class).
This season he has regressed a bit, and I think there is merit in the thought that his injuries have had some effect there. Maybe he doesn’t feel as though he can put his foot right through it, or he can only do it sparingly, since he has had more than a few injuries under his belt?
On the kicking scale I’m mentioning, I would rate Kelleher as an 8. Better than Alisson, even Alisson at his best, but not at the level of Ederson (no-one is).
I’ll meet you halfway. He is decent kicking from his hands, on the floor he’s a liability.
