They have a rule for the young players about not driving flash cars and the like until they have proven themselves. Maybe we need a rule for the rest of the team to show some perspective?
Maybe. Based on what I saw last night I’d be looking at everyone in the squad and looking at who can play as a midfield anchor.
We had one last season, and I’m pretty sure Slot used one before that too. This season we don’t.
So do something about it! If VVD sees it so should Slot. It’s Slits job to fix it. So far he has not or even shown signs of it. That is incompetence.
Time to move Ali on as well.
I love him but he cannot kick and also lost the ability to stop shots.
We need a massive clear out in the summer.
The aimless kick from Ali was because he was rushed into receiving a ball he wasn’t expecting because Jones was doing his usual trick of hanging onto it too fucking long in a dangerous position.
I don’t think its a massive ckear out to be honest. I think a re programming of attitude and desire is neccessary. Get some pride back in the shirt.
He would have played on Friday regardless, but we all know Gakpo will start both games the week after (and probably up front in the cup).
Couldn’t help but laugh at the moment when he had the ball and was scanning for options, there was nobody free bar Kerkez stood next to him and he still decided the best option was to just give it right back to them. Such a meek, one dimensional player who is the last sort of character you want to be playing week in week out in a situation like this.
Saw Gakpo described somewhere as the smallest tall player in the world.
Just sums him up.
I’ve seen Ngumoha, Chiesa, Jones and Alisson all blamed for the 2nd goal.
Can’t make my mind up. Slot maybe.
When there is so many players ( who were literal champions last season with multiple games to spare) having such a bad day, it could only mean the tactics imposed by the head coach is not allowing them to fulfill their potential and is actually putting them at risk defensively more than usual.
The manager is responsible for the playing style, the tactics, the team selection, the attitudes, the work rate and the results.
The team have been playing this way since the final stages of last season.
Be honest with yourself, and make the tough decision …is Slot the problem or the solution ?
If he is the solution, then its too slow a fix. He is probably the problem. Which is difficult to take.
Darwin?
the issue is its actually debatable…based on our current (extended) form
we’d probably beat Hodgsons Liverpool…probably…
but the talent at Slots disposal is so far above what Hodgson was working with its not funny…
we only look good when Wirtz is on the park and combining with Ekitike, the rest is really hard to watch unfold.
Slot of course will never be remembered as disasterous as Hodgson based solely off his league win…but man…this team, with the players we have, pushing out what we are…theres no daylight between 2026 Slot and Hodgson…
I seen the pass from Jones and Ali still should have done much better with his clearance. All he had to do was hoof the ball away which anyone should have been able to do especially a professional footballer who some call the best keeper in the world. Not this season.
VVD says we are slow and predictable but he is the biggest culprit. He sets the tempo of the whole team. The time it takes us to get into the opposition half would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious. After they scored their first goal we started playing more direct football and it paid off almost right away with Mo scoring and then he missed the chance to put Szobs clear on goal when he failed to make an easy pass. VVD then missed a headed chance from about four yards out. It’s obvious that Slot encourages the slow build up from the back and paid off last season but we have been found out for the last twelve months and he is unable or just too stubborn to change it. I can only see us trophy less and mid table come the end of the season.
Hodgson didn’t have time to relegate us but I do feel he may have done if given the chance.
I would say the Rodgers example is probably a lot better over a shorter span of time.
You make some good points. All that stuff really grates, and may just about be acceptable when the team are playing well..
Agree, too, about Rio. He’s 17 years old and some are expecting him to be the next Pele, or whatever. If we want him to attack there will be times he loses the ball, that’s going to happen. There were still enough players in red shirts to prevent that goal, so how the hell can it be his fault? Let the lad grow and develop into the player who we hope he can be, and not tear into him for taking the risks that we want him to.
Alisson has never been any good with the ball at his feet and constantly gets into trouble because of it.
We should avoid playing it to his feet unless it’s absolutely necessary.
It’s one of the anomalies of modern football that defenders and goalkeepers are tasked with playing out from the back. They are defenders and goalkeepers because they are generally shit at football.
Salahs a problem for Slot and the team in general.
Mo has been a phenomenal and is a LFC legend but its time to say goodbye.
Id love him to sign off with the winner the CL final but we are no where near good enough to get there.
