Post Match: Wolves v Liverpool (FAC 6/3/26 8.00pm

If only, we won the league match too!

So what changed??

I reckon shitty will draw Port Vale and we draw Arse (using reverse psychology I hope) in the next round.

Im hoping Newcastle knock out Shitty and Mansfield basically elbow all the Arsenal players out of contention.

Just watched the game a lot better in all aspects, loved Rio aggressive front footed player who mixed up his game his pass, although easy, for Robbo’s assist to Mo was perfecctly timed and weighted for the 1st time cross.

Great front footed game from Robbo was excellent in possession all over the pitch, and must have closed his eyes for that goal :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Lastly not many votes, but Gomez, great array of passing, helped set the tempo when in possession.

Far far better and liked that we saw the younger players coming on.

I watched the first half hour and apart from Rio it looked exctly like a re-run of Tuesday. The second half must have been a vast improvement , and therein lies our problem. I’m glad we’re through but , like so many others have noted , this wasn’t the most important match of the two.

Because we lost the important one!

Didn’t watch this one, wasn’t available.
Really pleased we won in what seems a convincing manner.
I really think that Slot has made too many mistakes. I have always said Robbo should have played more to show Kerkez how it’s done.
Gakpo has been a waste of space all season because he doesn’t link well with others. Seems to show how important good rotation is and Slot doesn’t seem to have a clue here and just buckled down on his daft ideas.
I think from the off he didn’t have a clue what the PL is and showed disrespect and continues with silly comments.

didn’t watch the game as I was still very disappointed (saying it mildly), after the PL game. Only a wee bit of consolation, is that Newcastle won their game. Wish the lads could have produced result for the PL game. Here’s hoping/wishing we go picking cups at the end of the season.

Rio actually plays in his full back on those overlap/underlap runs.

Kerkez does make really good runs but Cody ignores them.

Gakpo uses Kerkez overlaps to cut inside. The problem is noone falls for it as he has no variations. Mané was the best I don’t even think he knew what he was going to do let alone the opposition. Watching how the opposition stood off him was fascinating.

I find both Gapko and Grav a bit one dimensional. They are basically a bit tall, so offer robustness in holding onto or winning the ball, but in terms of linking in with others they are a bit poor.

What Slot may be grappling with is a question of style versus substance. Does he have the substance, i.e. the players with the skill set to implement his style, or does he need to compromise his style to fit he players skill set?

Saw some highlights and a few things were better. It gave me mixed feelings. On the one hand, I was glad we played better and advanced. There were some good performances too. Robbo looked really good and I hope he signs an extension, but I understand if he doesn’t, as he is plenty good enough to start regularly for someone, rather than be a rotational option for Kerkez.

Rio was bright as a button and made stuff happen. There will be more calls for him to start regularly, but for me I would resist that at the moment for the big picture. But he is making a great case to see more action, and that’s what should happen for now.

Gomez was good. He just seems to do the right thing, and that shouldn’t be underestimated.

So I was happy that we played better and advanced. But at the same time, similar to others, it made me wonder why the league game was so poor a few days earlier. And it made me wonder why the team has been so poor, on far too many occasions.

Bottom line it’s where we are right now. Not good enough to fight for the title, which we all expected when the season began; and borderline fighting to be on the right side of CL qualification. If we manage to win some silverware, we should happily grab it with both hands.

But overall we are short of where we expect to be, and the likelihood is that Slot will have an end of season review and won’t have done enough to be here next season. I could be wrong, and I’m keeping an open mind, but that’s what it all points to, for me.

Inability to enjoy any win is showing, yes we had an important game on Tuesday and we were shit.

I agree Slot should probably go, I agree Rio should play more, I also think we should use Trey more and maybe even Morrison as Salah and Gakpo look completely drained.

However as a fan I will enjoy any win especially one which was very good second half.

I think most of us enjoy the wins but are sometmes perturbed about the performance.

I was well happy with both in this game.
