Post Mortem: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 19/10/25 4.30pm)

Robbo needs to be given a few games to go back to the left side Virg works with at the moment.

Salah needs dropping. Unfortunately he looks done.

Hot take is that I hate Szobo at right back. Just use Gomez ffs he’s a defender.

Ekitike deserves the striker position. Forget about the money spent right now, play what works.

Left back issues are about 6-7th problem on this list. Ekitike over Mo, 100% right now.

Coming in to the game with three losses on the bounce after 3 away games. Needed a good start, but conceding early was the worst possible start, and gave United a gameplan to frustrate.

The equalizer came late and we were on top. I said in the in-match thread that I hoped Joe Gomez would then come on, as I could only see Man Utd scoring from a header. And alas, we allowed Maguire to get his slabhead to the ball for the winning goal (was a good first time cross).

Cody was a bright spark, hitting the post twice. But the easiest chance should’ve been put away. Could have, and should have, salvaged a draw with that open header, after some nice footwork and a cross from Frimpong.

As for England’s finest ref, it was the usual refereeing. Any subjective decision would be kind to United. That was always going to be the case.

Conceding a goal to that pub league CB is excruciating.

It’s incredibly worrying that the ETH blueprint at Utd wherein the players all go AHEAD of the ball which is a very Dutch League tactic is now ours.

It completely ignores defensive solidity in sacrifice for all your players up top but it doesn’t work in this league.

How did you know?

Only thing cheering us up, right @PeachesEnRegalia?

Sorry slot but you look out of your dept now. All klopps work taking us to the top being eroded away with this crap we playing now reminds me of roy.

I was going to comment that he at least landed some decent crosses when he came on!

It’s difficult to think of any outstanding performances, the whole thing was disjointed. Presumably, all these new players are meant to fit into Slot’s favoured formation, but I can’t see what it is at the moment, and I am not sure even the players know.

Gakpo did land some decent shots and Konaté looked better than he has recently. Szoboszlai did what he could.

I’m not convinced with the new keeper either. Not great with distribution and not shouting enough instruction to the players in front of him.

It looks like one of these things where they will be lethal once they gel, but at the moment we are going backwards.

Yeah, I didn’t think Kerkez was bad. He wasn’t responsible for either goal and he looked decent in attack. Not brilliant, but far from the worst.

Grimsby Town beat that Mob,

And we are playing like we dont know each other or what we’re meant to be doing, and the balance in the team doesnt seem right either

Slott needs to sort this out ASAP

Ok but defending is our number 1 problem.

Frustrating result. Some players definitely need dropping. Personally think a change in formation to suit our new players.

Get that we’re in a poor run of form, but some of you need your heads checked. Calls for a manager to be sacked this recently after winning us a title are but shameful. He’s got the job this season that we expected him to have last season of handling a major transition. It will be rough, it will be bumpy. We will get through it

Thank fuck I wasn’t able to watch this game.

I’ll refrain from any comment on what happened on the pitch, but it’s obviously not good enough,

Slot did very well with Klopp’s squad last season. This time around, it’s not so good, and naturally, he’s coming under fire now.

When we were first associated with Isak…I asked if he was worth the money…his price tag went up…I asked again…when he started playing silly buggers I did think he was a bit of a Diva…I’m getting my answers now…1. No…2. No…3. Yes…what does he give this team…nothing but trouble…all that money for no unput…(rant over)…aaaarrrrgghhh

Was hoping for some improvement after the break. None to be found.

Same problems as we’ve seen all season - no ability to progress the ball from the defenders or Gravenberch. No link up from the front 3. Kerkez playing like Caliafori or Gvardiol despite having a totally different profile. Lack of quality at right back. Too open in midfield.

Our most direct, industrious forward on the bench whilst the 3 on the pitch play like strangers.

Really poor. I don’t see the plan, not from the recruitment, not on the pitch. Glaring weaknesses are evident. We should be better than this, even with the amount of player turnover.

Didn’t like the subs. It was pure desperation from the manager. The kitchen sink at 60 minutes. That’s not a recipe for sustainable success. I’d have hoped there’d be a better plan B.

Not good enough this. We have almost a fully fit squad to choose from, there’s no excuse for us to still look this disjointed.

Thought Wirtz was decent when he came on.

Defensively we’re a fucking joke. The keeper looks like Mike Hooper reincarnated

He wants some who resembles Trent at right back at Slobo is the closest we have Bradley cant do it and Frimpong can’t get a go at right back.

Gakpo was a threat today, the only one that was of our starters

Is John Heitinga the mastermind at the back for us last year in helping our defensive play and shape?
