I really hate the football we’re playing. It looks ponderous and paceless and is just plain ugly way of playing football

Usually I can see what we are trying to do, but I can’t make it out right now. It’s a mess.

I would play a midfield diamond, Wirtz at the tip as the playmaker, make it go through him and he will bend the team to his wavelength, but right now it’s all over the place.

Salah should be benched. When he gets back in it should be as a forward, alongside one of the others, form and fitness permitting. We have some elite players and they will burst to the fore at some point, but our current wingers are not elite. I don’t think we are going to see our best stuff with the new breed while still trying to play Mo in the side on the wing.

We can, and I think we will, do better. But right now it’s tough to see.

The main issue at the moment is with our own shortcomings, but it is still legitimate to criticize the ref. Oliver had a stinker. Gave us nothing. Gave them plenty of free kicks at the slightest contact. Let them leave their foot in - Mbuemo, for example, in a secondary motion kicking out his left foot as he is going over, and we were lucky it didn’t injure Grav.

Right at the start it was crystal clear that Mac Allister had a head injury. Nah. Play on. My name is Michael Oliver. I’m here to shine. I didn’t see anything wrong with it. The pillock.

Final comment goes to Slot. He has to do better. We have all these players. It’s on him to get a tune out of them. Usually I can see what the manager is trying to do, so that’s the slightly concerning part, as it all looks so disjointed.

I might get one of those small plane signs made, to fly it over Anfield:

Midfield Diamond.

Another pile of steaming shite. Add it to the list.

The same players allowed to stink the fucking place out again. Salah, Gakpo, MacAllister, Kerkez…I could add Isak but will hang fire on that one for the time being, but if I was Ekiteke I’d be sitting there wondering why the fuck I’m on the bench. Showed more intent in 2 minutes than the undroppables did in the whole time they were on the pitch.
I thought we’d beat these easily. They are fucking shite and by far the worst team seen at Anfield this season and that includes Everton. Losing to them is a fucking embarrassment. The most telling thing for me was the reaction of the crowd when 8 minutes were added on, total fucking indifference, everyone knew the game was up.
Slot appears clueless. No discernible tactics and substitutions that make no sense. Today’s head-scratcher was taking off Mac and Grav ( no problem with that, Grav took a knock and Mac was as invisible as he has been for months) but why move Szoboslai to right back when he could have put Frimpong or Gomez there? Let’s just play without a fucking midfield for the last half hour, see how that goes.
I could go on, talk about Kerkez and Salah but what’s the fucking point? Slot needs to change the whole set-up right now before the discontent escalates because it’s bubbling away right now.
Try something different ffs. A diamond of Grav, Szoboslai, Jones and Wirtz behind the 2 CF’s. Try and create something for them otherwise what’s the fucking point of them?
We’ve watched this garbage for most of 2025 and enough is enough. I could understand if we’d lost 4 out of the blue but it’s so predictable now it’s untrue. Any repeat on Wednesday and at Brentford and serious questions need to be asked.

Just going make this point about Man Utd they are poor, very open and this is like throwing 3 points away as this lot aren’t going do much elsewhere.

Like lose to Palace away or even Chelsea and you can hope they replicate a response elsewhere not this lot.

That wont be too difficult!

In the scheme of things, it does still seem like a short timeline for throwing these players together and expecting them to morph into prime Brazil 1970. IMO, It is still early days for expecting miracles, for as yet, they still only have a low number of games playing in the same squad for LFC under their belts.

Come up to Christmas time though, you would at least hope things had/have begun to improve greatly and we are still in the hunt for the PL. Would just hope until improvements to our game arrive, the media haven’t started to pick relentlessly at the scabby football we are churning out… players will find it hard to be confident in themselves if constant negative press continues to send our form spiralling.

Not sure if the role of AS has changed significantly from last season to this, with regards to whether he delegates his duties through his backroom in exactly the same manner… One thing is for sure though, it is him and him alone that needs to right the ship again… We will see what he is really made of at the end of this season that is for sure

For me the biggest concern is Slot was clear in his public comments last week that he doesn’t see a lot wrong in our performances that wouldnt be fixed with just 1-2% more effort on both sides of the ball. And then we conceded 2 goals both of which saw some really slack defending. This isn’t a case of slot asking for more time for something click, it is as simple as asking for more effort and not getting it.

Earlier in the week I reminisced over highlights of one of my favourite games from my childhood, the 4-0 thrashing of Utd at home in Kenny’s final season. I think it was the final goal Bearsdley lobbed the keeper while running in on a 1-1. But the magic of the goal came before that. Rush had checked back to get the ball to feet and got hacked down and before anyone could blink, Houghton, who had initially come inside looking for the ball back from Rush, took a step forward and clipped the free kick quickly in behind the Utd defense for Beardsley who was already on his bike. It was the quintessential liverpool goal of playing quickly enough to find whomever it was who had fallen asleep. It’s partly about thinking quickly, but if you’re not physically working hard you’re not position to even take that quick free kick, or cannot make Beardsley’s run. Today we are the team who concedes that goal.

I don’t understand why we are blaming the new players, for me it is the players from last year that are a worry, Mo, Macca, Bradley & Ibou although he was one of the best players today.

I really want Isak to work, never want to see a player fail, but I would have preferred to have kept Diaz and got a CB.

Gutted that we missed out on Guehi, as I feel that 3 CB’s may have been an option with the players we have, as we are open time and again in the inside channel, sorry for harping on about it, but it is my main concern defensively.

Love a quickly taken freekick or corner

There were spells in the game where the the performance level was really good, and Slot’s assessment that we are not far off is probably correct. We hit the post three times, Salah and Gakpo both miss absolute sitters, we should have had a stonewall penalty, and 99 times out of a hundred 100 the game is stopped for the head injury. On xG it should be a comfortable victory.

But for fuck’s sake, we have to defend better than that in those moments. They outperform their xG by a whole goal - the chances they are getting are not clear cut. The keeper should do better for both of them, but they really shouldn’t get that far as to need his intervention. There are players switching off in key moments and it’s costing us.

Yup I’d look at the players on that first goal in the build up. Thats too easy to hand to players like that.

And if truth be told this idea they had a secret plan well executed I’m not sure that’s the case it just seems all a little basic for me.

Gakpo was unlucky with a couple of his today and he was alert on the goal. But yeah once you hit this kind of rut it’s hard to get out of.

As I said I don’t want to see a “we must do better” article this week, I want them to show it in Frankfurt.

I think our biggest issue is pressing from the front. Diaz, Nunez and Jota were all pressing monsters and set the tone for the rest of the team defensively. With Isak and Salah up top we’re essentially playing with 9 men without the ball. Even though we’ve lost 4 on the bounce in 3 of those games it’s taken late winners to beat us so it’s clearly not the end of the world but something needs to change and quick.

I think we should not be surprised that Slot will have to go through a crisis and shows his mettle as a top manager. I do not know whether this qualifies as a crisis; it certainly will if we don’t start winning soon. Klopp has his own throughout his time and had to learn from them. Slot has to find ways to counter and learn from it.

As for last night match, things would have been different if Cody shots went in instead of hitting the posts but fact is we lost, we were not good enough and made Manures look better than they are

Well said, although hCosy’s miss from the header was the worst as he is normally pretty good with his head.

I didn’t see the game due to not being awake so I’m not really qualified to comment, but I do wonder if a change of approach might get more out of the players we spent so much money on.

What about 3-5-2 with the three being the only three CBs we have available, the five being Kerkez (or Robbo), Gravenberch, Wirtz, Jones and Szoboszlai and the two being Ekitike plus Gakpo or Isak?

Of course Jones is there because Mac needs a rest. The only real risk with it in my opinion is what do we do if one of the CBs gets injured?

Maybe a CL game where it doesn’t matter at this stage if we don’t win might be a good opportunity for trying something different?

this hurts especially after letting the donkey off all donkeys get their second goal.
Patience is a virtue, but it’s getting harder and harder to keep the high level of patience with the talent that is on the pitch.
Absolutely hate losing to them turds

Not as stonewall as that as I haven’t a clue what incident your talking about. Please elaborate.

We haven’t lost 4 consecutive games since Rodgers in 2014 so this is getting to crisis stakes.
