To be fair, outside the first and last minutes of the half, that’s a decent performance away at a top six side. We were certainly the better side, but it’s all a bit pointless if we’re going to defend like that.

That HT analysis by Owen and Wright is good on Arsenal’s first goal. I absolutely don’t understand the decision of Henderson pushing across and opening up our right side to the Arsenal runners. Why? Hendo’s movement didn’t even help us in any way, apart from opening space for Arsenal. He is much more at fault than Trent on the first one. I don’t agree on Trent’s decision to stay as Matip’s wingman. He should have tracked the runner. But it never should have been 2 or 3 on 1 against Trent.
In the end that first goal is all about us playing risky football with a risky formation, which is how that goal came about. But Hendo needs to have better decision making there (as does Thiago in fact)

you can play whatever system you like you can provide whatever protection you want the boy doesnt want to defend. now we tried the 442/4231 still he is leaking goals what is next we play 343 to accommodate him. this season there is arrogance and lack of humility in the back 4 and its coming from VVD their touch is slow and pedestrian, body shape relaxed as if by me standing there u lot cant score . What worries me is when players face our back line and tries to take them on, it just feels like they would be easily able to carve us through and create something. On the contrary when Salah has the ball these days I feel the opposite. I would love the old us to be back, please!!

It seems as we are coached to be aggressive in winning back the ball and we are over committing in the personal challenges and they are then walkinga round us, we know when to keep shape and force the opposition to sleep down so we can get more men behind the ball or force the ooposition where we want them to play

Gary Neville kept mentioning Tsimi getting caught out several times upfield when we lose the ball in the first 10 min.
In regards to the penalty, the french commentator from canal plus stated that there will not be any English officials performing VAR duty at the world cup due to their “different interpretations” of refereeing laws.
