Klopp will start with most experienced players to silence the bitters baying for blood.
odds on Carvalo breaking Bitters hearts?
Their team has no physicality about it unless you want to call Tom fucking Davies a midfield hard man. My only fear is Taylor buying the inevitable diving.
Indeed. We can expect shithousery from the bitters so we need someone to match it. With Hendo absent, we also need a leadership presence in midfield. Besides, Milly did not start the last two matches so should be kind of rested and able to last for about 60-65’ (when he shall be taken off for Jones presumably). So Milner is a nailed-on starter for this one (and indeed the sort of game he is built for).
The shithousery is also the reason why Klopp won’t start Nunez (who can be a great sub if we need a late goal). Bobby is on form so no problem.
We better be ready to match them physically from the beginning. Don’t start half-asleep again and for the love of God, do not concede first. If we can keep grinding them down, we should be able to break them down at some point.
Whereas had we spent 20 mil. for Tielemans/Luiz instead of loaning out Arthur, we would tear them apart, right?
I believe Klopp shall go with more or less the same XI as in the last two games (Milner instead of injured Hendo of course). I think the only dilemma is the “offensive no. 8” role. I know Elliott is well on form and merits a start, but Klopp could be cautious of running a youngster into the ground (not to mention we only have a 60-hour break after the last draining match and could use some fresh legs in midfield). So I would say it is possible we play Carvalho in midfield from the start (he merits a start as well, right?). Playing Carvalho as LCM would also enable Milner to play as RCM and thus offer some defensive protection to Trent (which Elliott does to a lesser extent) and thus counter the likely bitters tactic of exposing our right side of defence (long balls behind Trent’s back).
You don’t need physicality to fuck up someones knee. You don’t even need arms.
We don’t need to match them physically, let them play their dirty antics and we can resort to playing them off the park the way City & Arsenal been doing to other teams this season.
I say forget it’s a derby and just hand them a proper footballing lesson…if we bring the energy and belief they can’t touch us even with a midfield of Fab and Milner in it.
Is Gueye available for them?
disagree strongly - he’s doing wonders for their situation
If possible, I would prefer to rest/rotate Robertson, Elliott, and Diaz. It’s not like we have lots of options, but we should use the options we have.
Yeah more problems on the other side
Carvalho time?
Everton are going to want none of the ball. We’re struggling to fill the midfield with the sort of players we normally do when playing a 3. This leads me to thinking that a double pivot of Fab and Milner (not too many other options) behind any combination of the 4 more creative players probably makes sense for this game. If it needs to change you can maybe bring Jones on later in the game for one of the front 4
As you point out, we have very few players who know how to ‘play the game’. For our second youngest first team player, this guy has the smarts. When he receives the ball and spins, if there is any contact whatsoever, he is going down. After Jota, he is probably the second best player on our list at convincing a ref to give him a free.
I know throwing a youngster with 4 games under his belt to the wolves is not something we generally do, especially when the wolves in this case are a team that want to take literal chunks out of you, but I think he would thrive in this game. I dare say much more than Nunez.
Edit, Thiago is the closest and will be in team training next week.

Yes, Trent in midfield…can’t hurt can it? It’s only Everton
