Yep, they were given cortisone injections and told to get on with it. That’s why a lot of players ended up having knee replacements, when they packed in.
Suppose with 5 subs he is still managing this team through what effectively is pre season.
It’s nice to Tsimkas and Keita back mind. Milner doesn’t confuse me as much as Gomez/Phillips like.
Really disappointed that Keita only makes the bench.
Are we expecting to have to be resorting tto aerial threat from Nat for goals from set pieces? Don’t follow what an uninjured Gomez otherwise can’t do better than Nat.
Yeah it really feels like Klopp is hedging something in preparation for the United match, if I’m being honest. On paper, this team should have enough to beat CP at home, but I don’t like risking it with Milner and Elliott out there. Hendo would usually rotate over to help TAA against pacey wingers like Zaha, we won’t have that tonight. Gonna be interesting, to say the least.
It’s not preseason though. We got 1 point from our first game and Manchester City has 6 points now. This is a must win or we will drift far from the top and the season will then be bloody difficult if we aim for the title.
We really should know better by now and have more confidence. There’s probably a good reason Phillips is starting. Maybe Gomez isn’t feeling well or whatever, we’ll find out.
But the preparation for the team is and he has currently 8 players out.
It might simply be that Milner is the fittest out of him and Hendo and that Elliott is the fitness out of him and Keita and that Phillips is the fittest out of him and Gomez.
Keita on the bench, let’s hope he doesn’t fall off it.
I don’t think Gomez would be on the bench if he is not feeling well though. But he may be feeling something muscular (maybe) and Klopp may be cautious. But sure, I agree, there will definitively be a valid and probably good, reason for it. It’s still a slight worry though despite the most probable good reason.
Oh, I don’t disagree. I just protested slightly because you used the word preseason in a game I view to be incredibly important to get a good start
Pearce says Gomez took a knock and is only fit for the bench.
There is the reason and it’s a good one of course.
I’d ask for a transfer if I was Gomez and he was fit today
I don’t understand that. He’s either fit or he isn’t.
Listening to The Boss pre match he seems a bit…agitated, to be fair.
He’s annoyed by these lineup questions and does not seem in the mood for small talk.
I’m wondering if it’s because of the balance with Elliott. Either Keïta + Henderson or Milner + Elliott?
Is he ever before a match
Sometimes a player can play if it’s really needed, but not fit for 90 min unless there is a total crisis because a muscular knock that could get worse though. It’s not that unusual I would argue.
It’s not rocket science he has a knock and Mr Klopp is not risking him.
