The Rascals - It’s a Beautiful Morning
It’s usually when we see a photo of Nat Phillips or someone on the clubs official team line up that I gulp.
When I see an obvious choice such as Salah I’m quite happy. Tonight it will probably be Firmino if we don’t have any injuries.
Apparently you are new here. Unusual first post but welcome!
I’ll respond with an equally unusual (unless you are a time traveller from 1990s or early 2000s MSN) response:
A/S/L?
*nudge
Think he may be a time traveller - I’m guessing his dial up internet is running slow and his mum needs to use the phoneline.
Got the day off today, perfect! Wife off work too and we are making sushi for lunch with a nice crisp bottle of chilled Pinot Grigio. Then the match. Can’t wait.
I keep going back and forth in my mind on what will happen. They had two decades of success and gave me lots of bad memories, so I haven’t fully learned how to dismiss them, but on the evidence before my eyes they are crap! On the other hand we have started slowly and with the eyes of the world on this one, they might fancy their chances as we haven’t hit our stride yet. We have injuries, a key suspension, and possible minor wrangles behind the scenes if we have identified a midfielder but aren’t bringing him in due to finances.
So I’m nailing my colors to the mast. Today is the day we kick on and win well, with the following team:
Alisson
Trent Gomez VVD Robbo
Elliott Henderson Keita
Salah Firmino Diaz
A few comments on the team:
Gomez comes in and is imperious. Martial and Ronaldo don’t get a sniff.
Elliott starts as he has made a good start to the season.
Henderson starts, sets the tone and tempo, and gives us a good hour and a winning margin.
Fabinho replaces Hendo and starts to find his groove.
Keita starts this one, and responds to the responsibility placed on him. He has a big game, stays fit for a while, and signs an extension.
Salah has his best game so far this season.
Firmino gives us an hour, and Carvalho comes on for the last 30 and adds a goal and an assist.
Diaz builds on his spectacular goal last time out, and leads them a merry dance, while also adding another goal, of a more routine nature. Questions of missing Mane’s goals begin to subside.
The mighty reds surge up the table, still only 5 pts, but all of a sudden, it doesn’t look so bad.
Man Utd fans protest, the Glazers respond and spend money, but again, with no plan.
They have overpaid on Casemeiro, and now they add Antony and Gakpo at inflated prices too. Decent players, but no real system for them to join, and the defence remains their Achilles heel. Still, Ten Hag starts to get a tune out of them as the season progresses, and they finish ninth.
Welcome LA Red, it’s a tradition (that I just invented) for first time posters to be greeted by one of the board’s cleverest and most handsome posters.
So here I am to offer my heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the entire TAN crew (except Dutch) for your wonderful first post.
Are you a member of the loveable beat combo ‘The La’s’?
If so, well done. ‘There She Goes’ is a cracking tune.
We need an early goal.
I’ll have that team as well, and I’ll fancy Harvey Elliot to have his arrival moment.
I am worried about this getting cancelled, as there is a worrying lack of detail in the Organisers communications, and I’m sure there will be some kind of picket line, and disruptions getting fans into the stadium.
In that case, the club do need to put all the pressure on the league to default the win to Liverpool - we should not be punished a second time for instability at that club. I just can’t see when a rearrangement could occur.
Think I’ve been lurking here and TIA fir a decade. Glad I could provide some pre-game entertainment!
Welcome LA Red. Nice to have someone from Louisiana here!
United are no match for that team. Relax everyone and enjoy.
1-4
I’m with you on this.
Starting Henderson in the 6 is what is needed.
Not sure what’s up with Fabinho lately, but he’s been off the pace a little for the last 10 games or so.
Best case scenario, start Hendo… get a lead, and then put Fabinho in for the last 15 to protect the 2 goal lead.
Really? That’s rather low isn’t it?
Welcome to the madhouse LA Red.
We are very courteous with one another, respect each other’s opinion even if we think we are right and they are wrong and vice a versa, we hardly ever argue, we don’t swear much and we all have a virtual group hug after every match, regardless of the result. We are just one big, happy, international family and we all love each other.
Enjoy the mayhem.
Hey now! We’re all respectable, reasonable people here
Still more than Man City get.
For a home game.
I’ll take the 0-3 win to us and their fans looking like idiots all day long. City will be really pleased.
Im a wee bit nervous about this, i suppose its human nature to think about the worst but not about the best like last season.
Aw man, that one takes me back!
