My favourite part of his performance is that he didn’t look out of place. Don’t know how common this sentiment is, but I always look at whether a younger player has the ability to not look out of place in the team. If so, then they’re on the right track for me. They don’t need to show magic, it just suffices that they can play a role in the team reliably.

He was excellent, probably only one time I thought yeah he needs to learn not to do that but considering others will have made more mistakes he was excellent and just a bit sad the goal for Salah was chalked off and that’s Salah more than Elliott as he has so much time to time that run.

On Burnley they aren’t as bad as usual, I’ve seen them far worse but I’d say that was a foul on Alisson late in the first half and Jota was pulled from pillar to post as was Tsimikas but he dealt with it well.

They tried on Elliott but he was just too tricky for them.

Taylor can fuck right off to be fair mind.

As for Mike Dean, he wasn’t as bad second half and at least we didn’t get about 15 minutes of line drawing, VAR worked fine for me in that instance today and no interference in say the Jota thing which in my view was a bit of a error and secondary really provoked.

They kept trying to push him around and we were winning free kicks because of it.

I saw it as young Harvey not getting the ball out his feet quick enough. That’s the Prem for ya. He’ll learn.

Salah made his run assuming it’ll come straight away, but the fraction of second delay ended that.

They don’ deserve to play in this league. these type of players should be in the pub team league

I think Salah could easily have timed that better but each to ones own view on it. Let’s face it he had a lot of time regardless.

Yeah that’s why I won’t be too harsh on Dean, he protected Elliott a bit.

He should be blowing at the end though when Alisson saved as Trent is taken out and it’s a head injury and to be honest there is a phase in which the play goes back.

Mind you I love strong hand saves and that was great.

New guidelines to let the game flow more: Overall, I like it. A real 1990s style throwback. Cuts out a lot of acting.

HOWEVER as usual ref is not consistent. Burnley allowed to do fouls and continue, but we try and ref blows. Example near the end with Tsimikas with the Burnley fullback. Challenges like that all game ref waves play on but he pulls Tsimkas up for it when he’s clear through.

Also can understand the yellows not coming out, but when Harvey runs past several players and gets brought down…… ridiculous.

Anyway, we fought hard in the game, and got two good goals. Could have been more, but winning is all that counts at this stage.

Will be a tossup between Tsimikas and Elliot for player of the match for me. I do hope Tsimikas gets more minutes.

Has he played on the right hand side in his career ?

Those two are new the epl, and so the obvious targets to see if they can handle the physicality… hate it but it’s very much to be expected.

Both stood up and pushed back as hard as they were pushed which means they are likely to see a little less of that moving forward

It’s a bit anticlimactic. No Post-Match thread. No @cynicaloldgit soliloquy.

I understand Klopp’s frustration given the injuries we suffered last season at the hands of some awful tackles. However, I don’t think Burnley went particularly over the edge today and I thought Dean reffed it pretty well. The right midfielder was lucky to escape without a booking because of persistent fouling, other than that I don’t really remember a bad tackle in the game.

I’m glad he meant Brentford but it will be lost in all of it.

Anyhow something for the press to moan about.

Didn’t stop Burnley.

Gudgodman, or whatever his name is, should have been booked for pretending to be fouled by the GS

Always good to beat the Burnley bullies. Deliberately over physical . Could have been a few injuries but we stood up to it well. Elliot and Tsimikas both proved they can handle the Prem. Next weeks starting eleven will be interesting.

I thought both of our fullbacks were excellent today. Trent’s defended well. Elliott was also superb.

It was good

I do t get the fuss around the new stadium entry.

It was fine
