Pre and In Match Thread. Liverpool vs Burnley. EPL. Sat 21st Aug 2021. 1230 hrs

Last nice thing I’ll say about Burnley before the match.

In a vacuum I love Dyche, and his ability to illicit such strong emotion from opposing supporters. He knows how to take the piss, he’s the villain and wears it well.

Surely Burnley cannot be criticized for doing what they need to do to stay in the PL with whatever resources can afford them to. Its not as if they are breaking any rules. Would we subsidized their expenditures if they get relegated all in the name of appeasing the believers of the beautiful game? Cannot understand such criticisms at times. If the criticism is levelled at the personality of the manager etc I understand…but style of play?

While you’re not wrong, I’m pretty sure Burnley have been in the Premiership for over a decade and are still ‘just doing what they need to stay in the PL’. I don’t see that as a good thing.

Not going to lie has a rogue tear watching that. I cant love this man more. What a guy, you know it’s not scripted either,

Lowton Towers sleeps in the sunshine. Dancing little ripples of heat-mist play across its smooth lawns and stone-flagged terraces. The air is full of the lulling drone of insects. It is that gracious hour of a summer’s afternoon, midway between luncheon and tea, when Mother Nature seems to loosen her stays and put her feet up.

In the shade of a laurel bush outside the potting shed, its proprietor sits sipping the contents of a long glass and reading the Culcheth, Glazebury and Lowton Argus, incorporating the Potato Fanciers’ Intelligencer and Ferret Breeders Gazette.

In the distance comes the baying of hounds and the crackle of small arms fire, interspersed with the occasional scream.

Boudica is on manoeuvres with her fellow harridans of hell, the Lowton and District Townswomen’s Guild.

The Mem took to horse early, tight lipped and steely eyed, after receiving the intelligence that the mangled fen-sucked haggard @Alex, had taken it upon themselves to pronounce the lex sacrificii et Musa sapientum fixa cutis.

One more name entered in the roster of the cohort of the damned; yet more carnage inflicted upon the local fauna and flora.

As I replenish my glass I reflect upon the small mercy that Boudica had already departed before I had the opportunity to appraise her of Lawro’s predicted three nil win to us.

Hopefully his attempted kiss of death won’t throw a spanner in the works and upset the apple-cart.

With Fab likely sitting this one out , I really hope we don’t start with the same midfield as against Norwich. One (or both ?) of Hendo and Thiago need to be in there to give us some impetus.

Won’t be able to see this as currently on holiday (gutted) but fully expect the reds to run out comfortable winners.

(Anyone know where I can catch a replay of the game online ?)

Nice step up for Harvey, good to see Hendo back too.

Superb. So glad to see Elliott being rewarded for his performances with a start. He’ll have one heck of an experience in front of the fans. Robbo back on bench as well and Hendo back is so pleasing to the eye. And lovely to see Keita getting a run of games.

Can’t wait for the kick off and the loud YNWA.

Ox dropped from entire squad? Unwell or injured??

Glad to see Hendo there will help Harvey in that respect I am sure.

Also glad to see Robertson fit enough already to sit on the bench. Bit concerned with Milner’s knock and odd how we have had to announce two keepers. Assume a couple on the bench who would be around are off such as Shaq, Origi and Phillips

Can anyone explain the idea behind having 2 GK on the bench? Origi, Shaqiri, Ox, Phillips, Williams, any of the youngsters would be a better option just in case.

Maybe it’s for the bench banter the two of them supply?
