Pre/In match: Chelsea v Liverpool (Sunday August 13, 16:30 BST)

Are you allowed to whine in there?

And can we have a poll as to how many times we will be caught out by a long ball (with Ali obviously bailing us out)

Darwin/Harvey/Diaz on at 60 mins.

3-2 win.

Same team as last time, surely.

Need the defensive shape to be better. Should be beating Chelsea really, they’re still a mess.

3-0 Lavia hat trick. Just not sure for which side yet.

We tend to struggle here.

I can only remember one game where we won which was the one when Hendo scored a great goal.

They will score so it depends if we score more.

No in game thread?

Not only are you encouraged, but you are expected to whine louder every time, curse the officials, berate FSG, admonish non-whiners, indulge yourself in the 5 stages of grief in defeat, spit on draws and express unadultered joy otherwise, schadenfreude any opposition miseries, blame someone else for your hardships in life and derail any attempts to talk about the ongoing match.

" Historically part of the county of Cheshire, in 1931, Wythenshawe was transferred to the City of Manchester, which had begun building a large new housing estate there in the 1920s. With an area of approximately 11 square miles (28 km2) , Wythenshawe became the largest council estate in Europe."

Some tricky away fixtures coming up after this one so it would be nice to lay down a marker and not have to approach every away fixture this season as an inevitable loss/draw.

Chelsea might be in an even worse state than us , but ; they are at home , it’s first game of the season and they’ve got a new manager to impress. Show up , we probably win. Anything less … well you know.

Are there such things in Europe outside the UK?
Not that they exist in the UK anymore anyway!

Missing the match as off to Limp Bizkit. Good match to miss as usually as dull as fuck these ones.

Two ‘big six’ team in the midst of fairly big upheaval and with plenty of gaps in squads that have seen plenty of outgoings and not nearly as many incomings as fans would have hoped.

Neither have a proper midfield yet. One looks much stronger in defence whilst the other looks much better in attack.

All we can really do is attack them. Win 6-5 if we have to be lets start the season off on the front foot, be the aggressor, show the rest of them we’re back to being mentality monsters. That opening day draw with Fulham last season really seemed to set the tone for the season. I fear for us if we go there and don’t come away with something given how quickly heads seemed to drop last year.

Looking forward to seeing our RB trying to win the ball back on the opposite side of the pitch. Any coach with a decent brain would just play long balls / attack our right side. Mo isn’t going to track back that much, Trent will be playing left MF/CF/Floating around somewhere. Ughh…3-3. I just don’t understand Tents hybrid role when we’re already shaky at the back and have enough attacking threat already on the pitch.

Expecting Jones to come in for one of Jota or Diaz. As much as I like the idea of Gakpo in midfield, I doubt a first game of the season away day at Stamford Bridge is the time to do it. I imagine we will see some flexibility between the position of the midfield three, particularly Jones and Mac.

Greater Manchester also takes in Appleby Bridge train station, the two Man City fans I have known lived in Swinton and Chorlton.

It’s really not simply as going oh look Greater Manchester, Bolton and Wigan were both places I spent a lot of my youth around and you wouldn’t particularly see a massive quantity of Man Utd fans you’d probably see more in a place like Southport.

Considering the quality of refereeing in those events over pre season I’m erring to the fact that more than often it’s the quality of ref or lack of. It’s a boring argument especially when Taylor has also shown good games for us he might be there on Sunday but it’s like classing everyone in Chester or Southport is a Liverpool or Everton fan.

Appley Bridge?

This will be the first match where we drop points, the next one will be the third…

If you think it’s solely about geography you are really wrong.
Taylor is one of a group of refs who have fucked Liverpool over on several occasions. I have no interest in pointing out those occasions, because @jaffod has produced the evidence ad nauseum.

Its a boring argument when you don’t agree perhaps. Nonetheless, he has fucked us over, Manc or not.

They’ve all fucked us over, is there a single ref in that PL bar any of the new ones that had about one game that hasn’t?

It’s boring argument, he probably will be shit and fuck us over this weekend, sadly we just have to remove that from the situation.

We know who are the ones we really have an issue with.

Remove that from the situation?
You have to be 100% better than anyone else to overcome referee bias.

And you are actively engaged in the boring argument
