Pre Match - Arsenal V Liverpool FC (A) | 08/01/2026 - 20:00 | PL - MD 21

ill try to be as positive as possible, i AM predicting gloom and doom, and for reasons stated above, ill be almost ( but not quite, obviously) just as pissed off if we turn up and put in a great performance …

ill try put my happy cap on though, and debate whatever happens in good faith.

We are going to beat them. We will put in a performance, while also being resolute in defence, and we will beat them. 2-1.

Wirtz. Ekitike.

Gabriel from a corner for them.

I wanted to offer my expert opinion on this match but since the “Football Experts” in this forum is @Sweeting and @RedOverTheWater , I will just let them talk instead.

My worry is if Arsenal go for it, press us high and force possession to Ibou.

Although saying that Ibou has improved possession wise this season, but he is still a weakness when on the ball.

I’ll be hoping for a ‘it’s a funny old game’ response to the match but they are obvious favourites. Our best chance is to attack them as other brave teams have shown, but that’s not Slot’s way.

Unfortunately, as it’s on Thursday night I’ll be able to get up in time to watch the whole match. After missing the Leeds and Fulham games I was hoping for a hat trick.

Don’t be ridiculous. Whoever told you that you know anything about football? :innocent:

That might be the very thing to turn our season around!

We’ll beat Arsenal, then draw with Burnley in the following match

Ive never hated Arsenal. Usually i’d want them to beat city to the title, but it would hilarious if they finished second again. It would be even funnier if they fell apart after we pulled something out of our arse and gave them a flogging.

Think this will be 3 or 4-0 to Arsenal.

They played scared against us at Anfield in the first fixture. I don’t think they’ll play scared now, but playing at the Emirates might help us because their home supporters tend to compound the pressure placed on their players.

I don’t believe we’ll lose 4-0 or something like that. I think there’s a decent chance we’ll get something from this. But we’ll need Hugo to be available.

Just came here to say, as the PL champions we are going to get fucked up by the most likely PL champions. I will still be watching.

Funny how people underrate Arsenal in other threads, but then are frightened in this thread. If they’re so shit, why are we dreading this… how does that work? I know what might be the answer, we’re even more shit than they are?

:joy:

But yeah, jokes aside, big challenge. Not the first, not the last. Sometimes it’ll end as expected (even if I wouldn’t say they’re massive favourites, we’re bloody 4th), sometimes there will be a surprise. Let’s give them the best fight we can offer on the day and we’ll see what it gives us.

In games like this, you cannot only defend or only attack during the whole game. We know already that in order to win or get a result here, we’ll have to do a bit of both and more!

This is the period I feel when they have their wins that perhaps aren’t confirming the title just yet (City are still in touch), but are big statements for themselves. Like in our recent title seasons when we beat the likes of City and United at home, Leicester away, etc. Big steps.

The last few games haven’t been easy, the limited options to choose from felt the intensity. Nothing else to do other than stay together, be compact, continue being at least tough to beat, try and be strong in both boxes and hopefully we’ll have more bodies back soon, raising our energy.

Don’t watch it then.
