the last few posts refer to what would drive me up the wall…

raising our game for the occassion.

i know it makes me a negative nelly, but if we can raise our game to the occassion them im worried about whats going on behind the scenes at the club, and ill obviously be happy with winning a game of football, but…

tell you what, ill make a deal with myself in an effort to add positive vibes…

if we win ill see it as a step in the right direction, not a corner turned as such, but another step up the ladder of progress…but if we just then, revert back to the dross weve seen, ill unload…

i really, really, realllllllyyyyy dont want to be one of those clubs that can ‘turn up’ …

Just texted my Gooner mate to get his thoughts. He’s actually a bit nervous and thinks they will drop points. He seems to think we are better than most Liverpool fans think we are at the moment. He said Man City have been dropping points and now it’s Arsenal’s turn.

That’s your notes from last year, mate

Arsenal have won 5 games in a row in the league. They have also trounced Villa who has had a amazing start to the season so far. If we dont man up on the set pieces and take the fight to them i honestly fear a trouncing.

Can’t honestly see how we will line up for this one either, especially without Ekitike we look blunt up front.

That’s not hard really. We still have a team with world class talents and several international captains. Most people on here seem to think we morphed into Tranmere Rovers around April last year.

Villa had a poor start to the season!

Recent form aside, Man for man their first eleven is no better than ours.

The biggest difference between Arsenal and ourselves isn’t the first eleven. It’s that their strength in depth is unreal. My biggest fear in this isn’t getting their first eleven blitzing us. It’s that when it gets to sixty, Arsenal can just roll on quality player after quality player in a way we can’t do.

Slot has provided an update on the fitness of Hugo Ekitike on the eve of Liverpool’s meeting with Arsenal.

Ekitike missed last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Fulham due to DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) and ahead of Thursday’s game at Emirates Stadium, Slot said: “He has not trained with us until now and let’s see if he can today > [Wednesday].

“I’ve said, I think, two or three days ago when we played Fulham that he is not going to be out for long but because games come so fast he is in between maybe training with the team or it would take him one or two days extra.”

This does not sound like Slot will start with him; it will likely be a reinforced midfield again with Gakpo in the forward position.

Can’t wait…

We should play him so he can join the rest of them injured.

Slot on not being a joy to watch:

“Against Fulham I don’t think people thought it was a joy to watch. Against PSG, it was for me. People tell me we need the extra pass, the second goal v Fulham was 17 passes we needed before we scored.

“I find it hard to hear [we’re boring] but it is not that I disagree, I would use a different word but I take it into account. I am known for attacking football and we are still trying to do so, but possession doesn’t mean you play attacking football, we are struggling to create a lot of chances but I have said many times we’re not the only team that struggles. I don’t think we are creating less than other teams who are doing well. But I don’t like to hear [we’re boring] because I want to play an attractive style of football. We have to find a way to play it against teams who don’t want to and that is something we haven’t found enough. We are working on this every day."

Stories were going around last night that both Bradley and the liverpool head physio took him out of their publicly viewable fantasy team so the assumption is he wont be involved

Have a right go at them.
No point sitting back and hoping you will control the game…because one thing is for sure we will deffo end up conceding in this game.

Here’s what I wish considering Hugo is out… don’t know what Slot will do
Chiesa Gakpo Frimpong
Macca Dom
Grav
Robertson Virg Konate Bradley

Subs at 65 Rio for Chiesa , Jones for Macca , Gomez for Bradley and Wirtz for Gakpo(free role as false 9)

I want our last seasons preferred midfield back for this game. No jones for this game please (not saying he is bad ) , it’s just I would let the players be in their best position and let their telepathy to work again.
Too many roles/position have been chopped and changed for Dom and Macca this season, and it’s insane to expect players to perform on par of last season, when every game their role or the player they are playing with(upfront or midfield) is different.
No Dom at Right back or right forward please.

I also want to start Chiesa on the left. His best position possibly, he was never a right wing/forward.
And, I will put Wirtz on bench as he will be bullied and we need to hold off possession in the first 60 min n add some grit.

Jones would be pretty much certain in my starting team here, but not on the left like against Fulham.

Anything we write here has 0 influence on what will happen in the game tomorrow anyway.

The reality is that they are favourites, playing at home where they are unbeaten this season, have 23 wins out of 29 games, we are on a little undefeated run, but some of our last few performances haven’t been great and are missing some players.

We also know that football is a funny games, can be surprises, sometimes even without playing well.

If Hugo is half fit Slot will start him just like he started Wirtz vs Leeds who barely trained the days before.

Class with shirts tucked in.

La belle epoque.

City dropping points tonight means it could give Arsenal even more incentive to win. Not looking forward to this at all :grimacing:

Or it could take the pressure off.

I’m still wondering why we passed on Anelka and got that spitting fool instead!
