Uninspiring first half. Almost in just 2nd gear at most bar one or two moments. Alisson kept us on equal terms. Need an extra 2 gears in the 2nd half.

I love Wirtz as a player but not what we are seeing at the moment, a playerā€™s confidence at this level shouldnā€™t be a problem and if it is he shouldnā€™t be playing for us.

Just has to pull his socks up, get on the ball and deliver.

Miss Ekitike in a game like this.

His hold-up play is so much better than any other forward we have. If weā€™re having to go long to beat the press (which we did for most of that half) you need a player who can keep hold of the ball and link up with the other attackers.

That just isnā€™t happening often enough so far.

I agree. Heā€™s been starting every game and we not seeing any improvement. Itā€™s time to see if someone else can fill that role.

Perfect example there. Criticize wirtz all you like but he received the ball with his back to goal and not a player within 40 yards of him he could pass to without first spinning and beating 2 of the 3 defender pressuring him.
