Pre Match Chelsea vs Liverpool. 4:30pm, Sunday 20th

Probably not the game you’d want Fabinho thrown in back there, but we’ll see how he goes. Minor knock for Gomez and a minor muscle injury for Matip.

Fab can use his right back experience with Brazil to help out Trent

Let’s start the game like a steamroller… Van Dyk and Fab should be fine especially with Hendo and Gini playing together… Keita is key to get the attacking play ticking and running against their defence…

Same could be said for Kepa since 2018.

Absolute fucking joke. One game into the season and our (well, some of us) fears are realised. We need to sign another CB asap.

I love Matip, easily one of my 3 favorite players at the club. But I’m beginning to wonder how much desire he has anymore for playing football.

I personally like Fabinho at CB. Good speed, reads game well, good in air, excellent tackler.

AFAIK Fab already played cb for us last year - I just can’t remember which game it was…

Fab had played there, so shouldn’t be that much a concern of him as a player playing there at CB. He played against Bayern and the likes of Lewa and didn’t let them score.

It’s his form and hence him playing there more of a concern. And mostly it’s to do with tracking runners, so hoping it’ll be fine.

We’re going to play these chancers off the park.

The game hasn`t started yet and people are already shitting the bed.

Do you reckon Jürgen phoned him up this morning and asked if he wanted to play, and that Joel’s answer was “Sorry, boss, but I intend to stay in my jimjams all day, playing FIFA and eating Pop-Tarts”?

It was a cup game I think.

Big test for Fabinho hope he has speeded up a bit.

Knowing Matip’s quirky personality? Not at all out of the realm of possibility. :joy::man_facepalming:

I have this vague memory of Fabi taking over from Joe when the latter came off against City. Very vague though.

Injuries would be really frustrating for players, don’t think it’s because of lack of commitment. Especially in a team like ours, they’ll be putting extra efforts to ensure they are in.

Except no one is. But nice fairytale anyway. Pat yourself on the back for your creative writing.
