Haha, the absolute hold-up for us. CP put us on the sword all second half-time long. Finally, a gift from VAR (who would have thought?) gifts us the points. Phew…

I was absolutely amazed that it was given. How can you review that in slow motion and still give it ?

Alli followed by Friend for me

Defence is the main culprit today, so many times they gave it back to them and then were disjointed. The lack of running back as well was frightening.

Alisson saved them multiple times.

I did. Bar for the first 30 minutes, we were hanging on for our dear lives for nearly the rest of the entire match! I have never seen a midfield so easily bypassed.

Jammy tbh. Was embarrassed we even claimed that penalty.

Can’t wait to see Mo, Sadio and Naby back.

However you may personally feel about the pen, we’ve been on the other end of those decisions many times, so I simply don’t care. We were due to get one.

Really, no time for magnanimity.

We need that break, but we have really shown mettle today. Rode our luck but we always have to work harder for any fortune we get…2022 hasn’t been half bad so far.

The defence didn’t cover themselves in glory bar for Robbo and Allison. TAA wasn’t doing that well offensively either as a hybrid CM/RB.

We deserved the win, we got some luck along the way ofcourse, and the point of having the best goalkeeper in the world is to get you out the shit when we we have mad moments, and he did that.

Important 3 points. Jammy penalty. Thought Matip was a bit sloppy again, and once Palace got their tails up we were struggling to find the outballs far to often.

Glad that we will have the AFCON trio back before the next PL run out. They’re coming back to a better league situation than when they set off…that’s massive.

For all his assets Fabs lack of pace is causing s problems in MF, also Bobby does not seem to look very comfortable there when the pressure is on.

Go watch the match again.
Caaalmmllllyyyy…

The good news is when our absentees return, we will be rocking. The bad news is we are very ropey without our absentees especially in the midfield.

We really cannot fault our only available forwards during this period. They did their part. Our current midfield didn’t do as much as I would like.

Not again…

Jeeze…

Nailed on penalty.

If a goalkeeper comes out of goal and takes down the attacking player it’s a penalty regardless of where the ball is. Alisson against Burnley last season anybody?

It’s not the 70’s or 80’s anymore. Might be soft but under the rules of the game in 2022 that’s a fucking penalty all day long.

The rest comes at a good time, we looked fucked after 40mins.

We would have won, even without the pen. So no need to care too much about that.

Fabinho cannot do the job of 3 MFs when Hendo decides to be a winger and Curtis Jones supposingly the advanced playmaker…We will be fine when Thiago returns.

The main reason why Thiago works very well with Fabinho is that Thiago also has a very excellent reading of the game, both offensively and defensively. Although Thiago is not a speed merchant, his reading of the game allows him to complement Fabinho’s weakness of a recovery pace and to a certain extent hendo’s poor positioning.

In a defensive phase, Fabinho does the first bite of the cherry and more or less, Thiago joins in to finally get the ball and do his magic. Whether is it to calm the play down, spread it out precisely to the other side’s CM or RB or even pass through the lines, Thiago knows what to do.

However, there is no one that has the vision and technique in our current Midfield to do that shit. That is why we are struggling in the MF.
