All I was saying is that this is the first (actually one of the only) game of the season that I think we might lose and that I don’t expect a good result and will rather be positively surprised
No one sane would claim that they are a better team. Of course not. Everyone knows that. But in these particular Derby episodes, I have been disappointed a bit too much lately, so will choose to expect nothing, becuse it makes me feel better. It’s just that. Nothing else
As usual going into a game against these cunts we are going in at a disadvantage due to playing twice since they last played and having played on Wednesday night.
Plus Darren England is the ref. This is the same cunt who was VAR at Spurs and was complicit in the match-fixing which occured that day.
My main concern would be Frimpong up against Grealish. Frimpong likes to get really close to his opponent and this would be like all Grealish’s Christmas’s coming at once. He’ll spend half the game on the floor buying FK’s they can lump into the box for their yard-dogs to get on the end of. Wouldn’t mind seeing Gomez at RB but doubt it will happen.
MacAllister is another worry but I suppose if he was fit enough to come on last night then he can give us an hour here.
I’d have saved Robbo for this one and played Kerkez against Atleti.
AS hinted Jones would be back for this, would be a bonus if he is because I reckon Szoboslai will be knackered after an hour.
Expect Ekitite to start and Gakpo needs to improve on last night.
Not overly confident tbh because they’ve caught us at a good time. Then again I always think this before the Anfield derby and it usually turns out ok.
Dalglish, Hansen, Molby, Whelan just for starters.. Maybe Robinson and Grobbelaar would be the only two that you could say ‘weren’t always Championship quality’ - a very good side for the mid 80s
We keep talking about the advantage of not playing in week but then again that’s the disadvantage of being a successful team we could have the same advantage but not play in midweek.
I don’t think it should be at 12.30 on Saturday but that’s my only argument.
I’m sure the Penthouse’s have too many pages stuck together.
Come to think about it why aren’t the pages of the LFC programs of that era not stuck together. I presume what we got to see is the front page.
Isak’s fitness: Training this afternoon. Isak did feel it more after 60 minutes so looking at recovery today.
Training this afternoon because of early kickoff. More sleep for players today.
Isak and Eketike together? Would consider it, but structure is usually 4-3-3. Could have two nines during part of game.
All players fit now. 21 players available.
Everton playing well this season. Grealish doing well for them. Appreciates Everton for their respect after Jota died.
How did Slot feel about fixture last season? No matter how much rivalry the fans can still be together (noted this at Newcastle as well). Much better than in Netherlands.
Hasn’t seen build up yet as this is first Saturday fixture. Game is special. Can see how important it is for fans.
Preparing players who haven’t played derby match before? Everton away felt different. Same with Newcastle so not first time players have experienced that atmosphere. Players need to concentrate. Everton now a better footballing team - less long balls.
Mo Salah - Great players still contribute when not playing well. He always has goals and assists in him. Prefer to see him involved like the Atletico game.
Late goals and conceding when ahead: Only 5 games played so no long term trend. Conceding against AM different to Bournemouth. Many things still to improve. Players will run out of steam if they have to go full right until the end.
People want to watch Liverpool because they never give up. (didn’t hear the question).
Everyone is fixated with results: It’s earlier to point out areas of improvement when we are winning.
Curtis Jones: Back in the squad. Slot mistook English for Scouse.
TLDR: Everyone fit, we play Everton tomorrow lunchtime.
I think that playing Ekitike and Isak together with Wirtz behind them would be something that he would be doing against City. A 4-3-1-2 if you will. Especially during the Afcon tournament where Salah goes.
