To be honest they conceded 3 against us last time.

After last night matches, good chance for us to pull away in 4th place abit more and close in to Villa in 3rd. As I said before, there are priorities and there are Priorities. A win will do. I don’t care how ugly it is.

there wont be a fan around who disagrees with this statement applied to any given one game, however, at some point there needs to be more substance to our football than ‘just getting the job done, we’ve been through a bad patch’

so ill say whilst ill take the points however they are offered, i think if we win again with a substandard shaky performance, ill happily debate the negatives in here.

weve been here in the past;

‘would you rather win ugly or lose playing good football?’

to which the only medium term/long term answer is;

‘option three, win playing good football’

in short, we need to show something here…and i think we actually will.

I wasn’t a fan of Benitez as I didn’t enjoy the ‘style’ he played/plays and the style is massive to me.

I just don’t enjoy a counter attacking style, where the opposition has most of the ball, but then again we at the moment have gone too far the other way when in possession, mostly!

I thought in Jurgens last season we were too open and got hurt in transition too much, so was happy with how we started last season as we had a bit of everything and didn’t give up many chances.

Seems so long ago

So it’s Joe Rodoff instead of Joe Rodon

First half of last season was ideal!

There doesn’t appear to be a pre-match press conference for this. I just looked at the official site and they have published an injury update.

Nothing surprising. Endō and Gomez both recovering from injury. Leoni & Isak out with long term injuries. Szoboszlai back from suspension, and Konaté would have a single match suspension if booked. Salah is at AFCON, of course.

TBH, it probably suits us as it would be all questions about the set-piece coaching.

They did it post-Wolves (straight after post-Wolves press conference), I think. Which is released after a few days.

Only a couple of minutes long, all of them sometimes do it that way when there’s games in a few days and this period.

How did you know my 3AM post nightout mantra?

OK. So it will be released, presumably with no awkward questions. Probably accounts for the timing of the Briggs announcement.

Maybe they’ll just skip this one. Farke had his full press conference. I don’t think Briggs leaving has anything to do with it. And I wouldn’t expect to be a lot of focus/many questions on it anyway.

Nothing that we didn’t already know.

Another stick…

Rodon has been offically ruled out now and that’s a massive blow to Leeds. He’s played something like every game for two seasons and is their absolute rock in defence. If they try to replace him with someone like Tanaka then Hugo will be drooling.

We need to be careful giving away needless set pieces. Calvert Lewin is in good form, he will be a threat.

Bradley to start, maybe Robbo.
Szoboslai, Gravenberch and MacAllister in midfield.
Frimpong, Ekitike and Wirtz

That would be my team. I think we’ll need to have this win by the seventieth again, because the legs aren’t going to be there, and again there isn’t much from the bench.

As I said we scored 3 when we looked like we couldn’t score for toffee at their place.

That’s a good lineup. We would still have Frimpong, Kerkez, Chiesa and Gakpo on bench.

We’re playing at home and had one day more than Leeds to prepare/rest. Not saying it’s going to be easy but we should win here because the match on Sunday will be much tougher.

A 3 points would be a nice start to the new year.
