Agreed, strange comment that.

Just have a go. A proper go. If we go out 4-3 then fine.

But don’t go out having played a 0-0 draw here.

which one are you talking about? The One that millions around the world believe in or the One that believe that millions believe in him?

They’re doing that medicine ball thing again, I have no idea why. Maybe someone can explain it to me.

I hope that they aren’t practicing headers with it.

This is true. Being realistic, we aren’t on the same level as PSG, but this is Liverpool and Anfield - we’ve won against the odds before in Europe and will do so again. I’m not sure this will be that time, but I hope I’m wrong.

We’re on a hiding to nothing which should in theory allow us to play with freedom and just go for it.

Then we are forced to remember who our manager is. To prevail here would be a bigger surprise than both Barcelona and Istanbul.

Good news I do think him going off did lead to some issues in the second.

It’s “functional” training. The idea that “athletes” should not try to get stronger with traditional weight training, but need to get stronger at the explosive movements they perform in competition and so develop these silly drills (see the drills with bands done inside as well) that “mimic” those movements.

You can probably tell from my language what I think about the way these ideas are employed at professional teams

I can’t watch this one as I’ll be at a work thing. That probably means we play the best we have all season and go through. One of my biggest regrets is refusing to watch the 2nd leg of the Barcelona CL tie beacuse I was so deflated. That goes to show anything can happen!

In 05 the moment Stevie scored everyone I was watching with had a “it’s fucking on” reaction.

Mo’s Never Give Up t shirt we all saw before kick off was something most people believed in, even as absurd as the task was.

If we went 2-0 tomorrow I would still be convinced we were still on our way out. They just really havent given us any reason to believe the way those other sides had

Yep…just no belief in this squad and particularly this manager.

Ok, I didn’t think I’d have to explain it.

If we concede first, it will be game over. This team are not the mentality monsters of yore, they are mentality minnows and will crumble.

If we score first, especially in the first half, the crowd and the belief may make us competitive. Limiescouse is probably right though, even if we score two, we’ll probably manage to lose. At least that way it would be more entertaining.

Press conference highlights:

Dominik Szoboszlai

  • Does Dom believe we can turn over deficit: Yes, we have the mentality.
  • Gesture at end of City game: misunderstood by fans. Dom didn’t mean it in a bad way. Dom feels the same way that the fans do.
  • What to expect tomorrow: We will go all in. Hopefully for 90mins or 120 if needed. Dom will “die” on pitch if needed.
  • French question - what’s your view on PSG compared to 5 years ago: They don’t have superstars of same stature (Messi etc) but now playing with different style which is very hard. We are ready.
  • Hungarian question - would beating PSG be Dom’s biggest comeback: Yes, it would be Dom’s biggest comeback. Previous biggest comeback was qualifying for Euros (with Hungary) vs Iceland.
  • Have players discussed about this being a big week? Players discuss things but only the next game. Not discussing Everton yet.
  • French question - role that Anfield plays? Anfield will make big impact. Whole stadium will be behind team. No further motivation required.
  • What does team need to do differently this week? Dom not discussing tactics openly. We need to go all in. Everyone has to give their all.
  • French question - Do PSG have an advantage having rested? They have 2 days extra for recovery and preparation. Some players have had to play both games. It’s not for Premier League to give us time off.
  • Mo and Andy leaving - is Dom a leader? Dom believes that he is a leader. He captains Hungary and can step up. He can be there for younger players.

Arne Slot:

  • Is the result overturnable: It was only 2:0. We can get a great performance in big games. We have scored 2 goals or more in 36 out of 49 home games under Slot. Difficult but not impossible.
  • Back 3 - focus: Slot never tells players to play a low block. Anfield makes difference.
  • Options for team selection: We need perfect balance between being offensive and keeping the ball. PSG like to keep possession.
  • Managing expectation for Rio: He doesn’t get distracted. He has always had lots of expectation. He is capable at highest level. He has experienced players around him.
  • Wirtz and what to expect: Club have invested in young, very talented players as part of transition. Opportunity to shine.
  • How hard is it to oppose PSG: Having players switch position during game is unusual, but they have talented players with great endurance.
  • Does Arne take advice (e.g. from Guus Hiddink): Slot receives a lot of advice. He listens to people all the time. Nice to speak to Guus, he doesn’t need to write good advice down.
  • PSG have scored in each of 17 games. Do we need to score at least 3? Slot’s day ruined! We need to start aggressively and try to score first goal.
  • Anfield atmosphere: Important. We need to be much better so hoping that crowd can exceed even last season. Fans make it loud.
  • Where does belief come from: We can be much better than some performances this season. A goal can change the momentum.
  • French question - 4th time we have played PSG in a year. How to use previous experience: Not so much sense to look at last season’s games. Squad different this season. Tactics will reflect current players, but need to be aggressive from start.
  • French question - How is Konate preparing and contract renewal: Special evening for Ibou. Slot doesn’t talk about contracts!

No team news.
