Pre-match | Liverpool FC vs Real Madrid | UCL - 4/11/25 - 8:00 PM

Get young Rio on the bench and in readiness to come on…
Not sure TAA will relish having to defend against him..!

Is it?

Nothing will be decided and we are a side trying to find ourselves…

But.

On the other hand, a coherent performance (over a win per se) would be gold!

The present match is always the most important.
Irrespective of any thought, it’s our next match any other is just a distraction.
Once a match is over it has no more importance the result has been decided.
Any match after we will see about when it comes.
I thought this was evident. Worrying about another match isn’t on!

With 12 subs, Rio will be there for sure and we might have an empty spot or two. I’m not sure that ecounter will happen, though. Probably not.

We shouldn’t have too many problems then.

Xabi classy as usual in his press conference.

Got a man crush for him.

You must have missed Bradley fucking smashing this lot last year!

Why not? When we are 4-0 up, it’s good to let Rio have a run out

I hope Trent doesn’t get booed, but I’m not optimistic.

The game last year was a lot of fun. Not expecting that this time. I’d take a draw tbh.

I think there’s a funny local thing with Trent, and the match going fan feels a bit more of a sense of betrayal and is therefore more apt to boo. I hope I’m wrong and it’s now passing, but I don’t think he’s getting a warm reception.

One of the knock on effects is how other current Liverpool players feel about it. Hopefully we can be magnanimous, but let’s see.

I’m sure there’s no problem with his mates in the team like Curtis, Mo, Robbo etc.

I agree with that. I was sort of thinking about players like Mac Allister. Say they have in the back of their mind that one day they might play for Real Madrid? Seeing how the Liverpool fans treat Trent might potentially sour things for other players who might have a Spanish giant in mind in their career.

My choice also…

Slot said in the press conference that he and his former teammates would give him a warm welcome. He said the reaction of the crowd would be up to them.

TBH, I find booing former players to be a bit pathetic. Chelsea fans were doing it to Salah in our last game against them. Seriously? Over 10 years ago, and they barely played him and sent him out on loan.

Trent is not perfect, he could heave handled his departure a bit different but I for once have not forgotten that evening under the lights on May 7 2019. :+1:

I hope he gets a hostile reception that gets under his skin, personally.

I get the point of what you’re saying, but I’d rather the crowd didn’t focus on one singular player but produced a cauldron of an atmosphere.

It’s been a while since we’ve got one of those.

Will be interesting when/if they boo Trent while Xabi is a few metres away from him.

I’ll be surprised if he even gets on the pitch.
