I think there are a lot of forwards who could win a in a foot race against our CBs. Which maybe backs up my idea that Konate is maybe a bit overrated. I remain to be totally convinced.
If Konate just delays awoniyi by forcing Awoniyi and his team-mates to think what to do next, back-up would have been flooding back and thus reset our defence and midfield.
By sticking so close to Awoniyi, he gives Awoniyi no choice but to do a flick on and the rest of the Forest players then know what to do.
Aided by Diaz doing his Cisse impression by starting in an offside position and just continuing to run forward demanding the ball. A comical play all around.
Yeah, what happened to the throw-in coach?
Thrown the towel in…me thinks
He doesnt coach the defending of them.
Today was a good example of why they can be so difficult to defend. If you win the first ball on a corner, the pace on the ball in invariably means you can get it clear the first time. The loopy nature of a long throw in means that often cant happened even when you win the first ball. When you watch the way Forrest were playing it, they often werent even that bothered with competing for the first one, and instead just tried to make it even more difficult for the first one to be cleared cleanly and then all piled in hoping to spark chaos with the ball falling in our area.
Could have done with a bit more a clear eyed understanding of what was going on from the ref, but our failure to adapt to it on the fly was not great.
Fsg got him offf the wage bill along with the others.
