Lose this and Atalanta win their game, we suddenly are third in the group looking at a must win game in last group match. Not ideal, no matter who we play in such scenario and anything can happen in one off game.
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. Hope we go strong in this one and win this one itself, to avoid a nervous last game.
That’s it in a nutshell. There’s no point to expect fireworks for this game. It will be a battle against fatigue, niggling injuries, and increasing demotivation of all concerned. Now is the time for Klopp to earn his corn. He must maintain the lads’ focus and commitment at 100%, despite of all the shite they are submitted to at the moment.
It’s a hard task, and hopefully he’ll succeed. Another defeat in this game, and we are toast, so there is at least some pressure for the lads to feed on.
I for one don’t care who plays. Klopp will be relieved if he can find twenty-two more or less injury-free legs for this one.
One thing is sure: Ajax will be looking forward to that one. They are on a great run currently (WWWWW in all competitions). Give them a sniff of a chance to beat us, and they’ll take it. We are the big scalp for them, and Atalanta beating us so easily the other day will give them a lot of hope that they can do the same.
I’m not going to watch the game live. I’m fucked off beyond belief anyway this week so far, and a shit result here might be the detonator. UP THE REDS!!!
We have the choice of going strong in midfield - Fabinho - Hendo - Gini/Jones - or dropping Fabinho back into defence to add a bit of defensive solidity. But all that depends on whether Gini and Hendo can last 90 minutes.
I’d be tempted to play Fab at RB because I don’t trust Neco right now and it would give a bit of re-assurance to Rhys.
Whatever JK goes for it’s a fucking risk in terms of fitness and fatigue. Best we can do is go strong and try and bag a couple of goals, something I’d fancy us to do against their defence. A point is enough and I think we’ll get it.
