Probably play Allison in goal, get confidence in distribution again.
Gomez at RB. Jacquet, Araujo and Tsimikas.
Nyoni, Gravenberch and MacAllister.
Rio, Koumas and Gakpo.
VVD, Barcola, Isak to get some minutes if needed. Maybe Danns snd McConnell to get some minutes as well.
This is a trophy we could win, and still use these matches to develop what the manager wants. First half today was tremendous, so build on this.
Alonso back at Anfield, nice for him to see what he could have had.
Look Iām on record a few hundred times on this very forum saying how much I dislike this tinpot cup and that we should always and only play reserve teams in it until the semis. I havenāt changed my mind, Iād give everyone a rest for this and play nothing but kids/reserves. Especially against a Chelsea side who have 2 Ā£75M+ players for every position.
Theyāve had the same 4 or 5 absolute cunts on a rotation for us for years. Losing Coote really hurt their ability to make it look impartial and merely a coincidence.
Quick turnarounds, another huge game next Sunday. I say keep doing what weāve been doing as itās worked out well.
Mamardashvili
Gomez Araujo Jacquet Tsimikas
Mac Nyoni
Rio Mcconnell Barcola
Koumas
A shame Leoni, Frimpong, Szobo and Munoz are all out because theyād have all been ideal for this. Saw Danns and Wright both on the scoresheet for the u21s against Cheslea yesterday, wouldnāt mind seeing one of them involved in some capacity. Think Wright has something like 10 goals already this season.
Itās always sweet to win whatever the competition. Itād be even sweeter if we beat Chelsea with a clobbered together team whoever they put out. We have the quality to do it itās just the cohesion between those chosen to play that might weaken us a touch.
Interesting Endo and Chiesa donāt even get a mention in peopleās ācouldnāt give a shit about thisā line-ups.
2 players who were on the bench yesterday for a PL game.
Itās a fucking sorry state of affairs where these 2 are concerned, genuinely neither use nor ornament it seems.
I donāt think either of them fit into Iraolaās plans. Endo has some chance of decent moments for us, but Chiesa seems miles away from ever getting minutes again? Koumas has moved ahead of him snd Ekitike will push him further down the pecking order.
Iām not in the ācouldnāt give a shitā camp, as I see every match as an opportunity for the players to learn Iraloaās brand of football. Thatās why I would go for a more blended starting eleven.
I know there is always fear of injuries in āmeaninglessā matches. Yet we allow players go and play glorified friendly international matches a month into the new season.
Hope we win, play well if itās possible and of course weāll rotate to a certain level. Weāre at home, playing a serious competitor, opportunity to progress and for young(er) players to test themselves again, get more experience. We do have some injuries, but we also have the largest first team squad of all big clubs in the league.
Would definitely play a ānot arsed about losingā for this one. Good result against Arsenal (who I think are not as good as people think they are) and we are bang in the conversation. In fact Iād as good as throw this one up in the air and see what happens. For me Mamar, Gomez, Endo, Chiesa, Danns, Koumas and McConnell all start.
Ps. Our draws in this competition are fucking ridiculous.
