Pre-Match: Liverpool vs Leicester, Kangaroo Cup third-round, September 27 Wednesday 19:45

The club clearly doesn’t agree.

Don’t want to see Mo, Dom, Virg, Robbo, Alexi, Diaz on the bench.

Ideal world, few seniors who haven’t played enough and the rest are all u23s.

Is that up to date? The numbers for FA Cup and League Cup are wrong.

I fully understand the club’s position, but as a fan, I couldn’t give a shiny shite about the league cup.

Yeah I never understood why some people write off the League Cup. Its a trophy, something to chase and celebrate. Sure the early rounds are full of squad players and youth team prospect but so what?

Give our squad players a chance, if Leicester show up full strength then so be it let’s see what happens.

I’d probably put about 6 names who shouldn’t be on the team sheet or bench

Alisson, VVD, Dom, Robbo, McAllister and Salah.

Possibly Dias too but he might be worth as a call in off the bench.

Kelleher
Trent (if fit rather him get mins in under his belt for the Spurs game than start straight up into that) if not Bajectic again
Konate
Quansah
Tsimkas
Endo
Gravenbach
Elliott
Jota
Gakpo
Doak

Yeah look I get it, it’s a “trophy” and a chance to blood in some young players, but it absolutely fucks your schedule in Dec if you’re competing in Europe and mounting a title challenge in the league.

We don’t have the squad we had a few years ago, I’d rather keep everyone fresh for a possible title push and maybe win the Europa League since Klopp needs to complete the set (not gonna count the conference league, sorry).

There’s also little in the way of money tied up in this comp, very little TV money and almost zero in prize money (relatively speaking). Sure, we’ve had some famous cup wins like against Leicester a couple of seasons ago when thei fans were being cunts, but I’d still rather not bother with it at all. With us having the Thurs/Sun cycle as it is, freeing up more midweeks is fine by me. But to each their own. A cup’s a cup at the end of the day.

It’s actually more of an issue in January with the two legs

Still don’t really think there is a major issue with the team I put above.

It’s not something I’d spend too much crying over it they did knock us out.

3-0 or 0-3 whatever!

It’s the squad and youth players that benefit from us being in this. It’s definitely of use to us, I’d just wish that they got the competition done before Christmas and the FA Cup kicks in.

We’ll be fine with 12 players, so no worries.

Kelleher
Bajcetic Matip Quansah Tsimikas
Elliot Endo Gravenberch
Doak Jota Gakpo

Leicester are a team which probably shouldn’t be in the championship , looking at the players they have. Don’t take them lightly especially as Leicester will play like they have a point to prove. , play the kids like Baj Quansah Doak. I’d even have Bobby Clark in the bench as well. Just in case , the game is killed early.

I’m sure that Jürgen and his team will know the personnel, formation and tactics to see us through this game. COYR YNWA :+1:

Given Leicester’s position in the league, I’d maybe expect them to not actually want to progress in this competition.

Be interesting to see how strong both sides go.

They have a crucial match coming up as well. So you might be right on that.

Finishing fourth in the league is apparently more important than winning a trophy.

That’s modern football for you.

Just another thought with this competition is that it is one of the few games each season that the average fan will have a cat in hell’s chance of getting a ticket for.

Either that, or discovering @Iftikhar fetish for Aubergines…

He meant ‘three plants’ :eggplant: :eggplant: :eggplant: :0)

The problem with this type of games is that most of players lack sharpness as they generally lurk around the fringes and have very few mins in their legs. Also, the team, as a whole, almost never had played together and there’s a visible lack of communication and coordination.

If Trent is on verge of returning, he should have 15-30 mins to get his sharpness up to speed.
