Crap half of football so far. Same issues in this formation as we had against Shef - keep trying to force it wide when we’re playing a narrower formation; no winger/full back overlap meaning our play is easy to read and ineffective - the deep mids and the three CAMs arent linking up and our play is being easily stifled. The Midfield 5 need to all get more involved in the game (Milner’s probably been the best of the bunch so far, but even he hasn’t had a good game) and we need to focus more centrally if we’re playing the 4-2-3-1 narrow, as we are. As is this is a very tedious game of football, and they need the same boot up the arse they had last game - we improved against Shef when Firmino got more involved in the second half and the play was more central.
Suprised to see how ready some are to write off Taki - personally think he’s been decent in most of the games he’s been in, barring today, and think that he’ll come good
Back to playing around them and creating nothing everything that has looked good is by playing quick passes or runs through the middle of them. Need to get Shaq on the ball centrally more.
I would like to keep itbthe same until the 60 minute mark, maybe with the exception of Origi in front of Robbo as someone said he just doesn’t gel in that position with Robbo.
I think it’s hard when you swap all the established front men. They are so used to each other. Origi Taki and Jota are all working hard…just not that cohesive. All trying to win the game on their own… as for Shaq??
The Danes are also really aggressive and push up quickly so it’s more difficult for us to get out and create opportunities.
Not worried we have a really strong bench
This never played before is a cop out excuse. They have plenty of time in training and should know each other abilities without question. The issue is that they are just not that good on a consistent basis. Taki is just terrible in this team, and I had such high hopes when I saw him play for the rbulls, just overwhelmed it seems. Sort of like Naby, but much cheaper.
