Going on past evidence Allison will pick up another injury within 4 games of coming back.

1st clearance and PING! (Lets hope that doesnt happen ffs!)

Well not really he generally has one a season. Do you ever post when we do well?

Well, what a shit set of news…

Hopefully at least Ramsay is fit to be available for some minutes in the league. Gomez is fit, but hasn’t trained yesterday (will today).

Szobo is massively important to us higher up the pitch, as we’re trying to bring our pressing back to life.

Gomez or Ramsay at right back not our best midfielder Arne.

22/23 missed 12 games with an hamstring injury returned for 3 games then was out for another 5 with a thigh injury.

24/25 missed 2 games with a thigh injury returned played 3 games picked up a hamstring injury missed 10 games returned for 4 and injured the hamstring again missing another 16 games.

Plus what’s commenting on injuries have to do about doing well.

I’m not usually negative but I’ve not felt this apathetic after an international break in a very long time and I suspect it will be grim watch tomorrow before coming out with three points.

If this is a problem, maybe he could have used Joe a bit more often? He wasn’t injured the whole time or anything. And… if that wasn’t possible, why didn’t we just sell him?

It sounds to me like he’s saving him for an absolute emergency, and is now using his lack of match fitness as an explanation. However… Joe can’t help it if he’s been used so rarely.

We were going to but the Guéhi transfer fell through.

He does seem to be treating Gomez as a Ben Davies style brake-glass emergency option.

In just over 2 weeks he played Villa, City, Madrid, Slovakia and Luxembourg. And he’s the talisman in midfield for NI. Runs himself ragged.

Maybe instead of writing him off we could consider that he has been overplayed

If he plans to be Liverpool’s first choice RB and inevitably one of if not Northern Ireland’s best player, both for some key games, that’s the sort of tempo he’ll have to get used to. And not used to, but prove he can sustain it. A fit Frimpong might have helped with some minutes, but I’m not sure if it would’ve made difference, as we’ve seen it before with him.

Is Frimpong fit again at least?

No, it will probably take another 2 to 3 weeks.

It’s always a combination of quality, form, style, sharpness, experience, understanding with other players, partnerships, etc.

I do agree Gomez could’ve got a bit more minutes in last weeks and months with Konate’s form, but considering the other mentioned aspects, probably not much more.

Fact is, we’ve really pushed some defensive issues aside in last years and it’s not surprising to see it come to bite us at times. It’s not 20/21 level yet, hopefully it doesn’t end up like that.

This summer we’ve added two players, but of questionable level of quality and style.

That defence needs more help.

I guess we’ll have to play a little bit.

Some players out of position, Gomez here and there, the likes of Ramsay and Williams included among subs, etc.

Dear God…

These things tend to be dynamic. It starts with one or two injuries on one position, the other players are overplayed (ie. first Frimpong, then Bradley) and injure themselves too, leading to a host of new problems. We aren’t yet at the point of 2021, but in danger of quickly nearing it.

The Force doesn’t seem to be with us I’m afraid.

It’s like these days it’s almost impossible to have two successive seasons without many injuries. We had a bit of that tempo also in Klopp’s last years. We had seasons of almost always having 4-5-6 injuries (hardly sustainable). Then less. Then more injuries again.

He’s only 22yrs old and his fitness problems existed when he wasn’t a regular first team player, way before the recent fixtures. Apparently since his first team debut, Bradley has missed 56 games through injury. Those stats don’t look great to me, for someone of his age. Also, I’m not writing him off, I’m just commenting on what’s in front of my eyes and that is, we need someone who is going to spend more minutes on the pitch, than the treatment room.
