Going to a Irish pub to watch the game today.
Let’s hope you don’t end up having to drown your sorrows.
Was looking forward to this one but the new injury situation has tempered that, had Bradley and Wirtz down as starters.
I really hope Slot gives either Gomez or Ramsey a start at RB, we really need Szoboslai’s energy further up the pitch.
No more excuses though, I didn’t like the reference to Jota in yesterday’s presser or the idea of playing Isak ahead of fitter players to get him up to speed. Not sure where that came from though, was it Slot or media speculation?
We have 3 matches this week all against average opposition, Isak can be brought on from the bench and get 30-35 minutes in all of them.
Just need to get over the line today in any way possible, this is the start of a good run of fixtures between now and the end of the year and we need to see a plan taking shape, a discenible style of play and improvement all over the pitch. I think FSG will be watching more keenly in the next 6 weeks.
He got asked about Jota and said we miss him both as a player and person. Though naturally not as much as his family misses him.
He didn’t say Isak is going to play ahead of fitter players, just that it would’ve been useful if he got some game time in Sweden’s second game, but understood because he’s one yellow away from suspension (and they have a play-off ahead).
Oh boy.
Anyway, will be interesting to see if we even play with a single #10 with that selection, who is it, or we flip to more of a 4-3-3 structure.
I fucking hope so.
I’m sorry to report my under 11s won 9-1 today, so there is no chance today for the Reds.
Uh oh
But Ali is back!!!
Of course I’ll be hoping he rewards Slot’s faith But Isak starting doesn’t sit right with me.
Hudson-Odoi on the bench for Forest.
I think him and Elanga were both on the bench last season in this fixture, then came on and created chaos.
Yeah, starting to annoy me
The optics alone for starting Isak over Ekitike are not great
Ekitike has been doing well but I am glad to see Isak start. He needs to get his Liverpool career going. It might be tough for him today, as we are missing Wirtz’s creativity and Szoboszlai may be at right back.
Still, I’d love to see three points and a goalscoring contribution from Isak. I doubt he plays the whole game and we have good options on the bench.
As for right back it’s a shame both our right backs are injured. So now we are down to third choice, and it looks like it’s between Szoboszlai and Jones. I see the case for either one. Szobo did very well there when called upon earlier this season, but the flip side is we miss his drive in midfield. Jones can do a job at right back and might be quite fine, but if he plays in midfield he is good on the ball and has an eye for goal too. I wouldn’t get too heated whichever way Slot goes with that, as we are down to third choice and there are pros and cons either way.
Gonna make an omelette and a nice cup of coffee and watch this on TV. Lazy start to my Saturday before going out later.
I’m sure we’ve discussed this before.
But Slot’s selection is starting to bug me.
Yes, when we are successful it’s great, doesn’t necessarily mean that the alternative wouldn’t have been more successful even when he wasn’t right. (not picking Chiesa, persisting with Ibou, the experiments at right back).
But when things don’t work and he persists with his choices it becomes more noticeable and questionable
Ekitike who is in form sitting on the bench wtf.
See the moaning has already started.
Ultimately you go on about systems, tactics and so on and then you look at the team and you wonder how it’s underperforming? No one’s playing out of position bar right back. Everyone knows their job, they’ve all been quality at times.
Also perhaps he thinks throwing on Isak is less game changing than throwing on Etikike.
Optics can be negated by a good performance, and ultimately winning is what is needed to put the negativity at bay, but given how much emphasis that has been put on his lack for fitness and sharpness as explaining his slow start, throwing him back in at the very first opportunity when we have an alternative who is ready to deliver what the team needs…it’s grating
