Pre Match | Liverpool vs. Sheffield Utd | PL Matchday 6 | Saturday 24th October 20:00 | Anfield

Fucking hell 37 games at home we’ve not been awarded a pen… It’s just corruption.

Utd get 1 pen per game home or away.

Just watching the penalty replay it was a horrible call

First point, no way was that a penalty, not even a foul and it was outside the box!! Done over by VAR again!
Second point, we were very poor and look vulnerable in defence, very shaky indeed.
The front three struggled to get in the game for most of the half and I’m not sure what Jota’s role is.
We’ll have to be very careful in the 2nd half, these are really up for it.

I’ve just seen David Maddock tweet on the same thing and its breathtakingly amazing what is VAR actually doing its money well spent.

going up really seemed to put wind in their sails, they outplayed us IMO for a good 15-20 minutes

but we scraped up a scruffy equaliser and then started to look a little more incisive

shit clearance from fabinho and then it is, arguably, a foul. soft pen, irritating, but not legitimately unjust like the shit last weekend

We have to up the tempo by a notch or two.

HT 1-1:

What a strange first half. We were all over them and looked likely to score very soon, before suddenly, that * Marriner invented something in his VAR room. Sheffield score from the resulting penalty, and suddenly, everything crumbles.

No champions, no mentality monsters, just little boys feeling sorry for themselves and being outplayed by Sheffield. That lasted until around 10 minutes before the break. A few clever attacking moves, and then Bobby scores from a really good one.

Hard to see where it goes from there. It must be horrible to know that whatever you do, a guy in the VAR room can always destroy your efforts at will, whenever he wants.

On the other hand, getting that equaliser before the break was vital. Klopp will surely drum some confidence back into his players, and we’ll hopefully see a much needed improvement during the second half.

Good to see Trent contributing. He has had a very ordinary season so far. Firmino or Jota needs to play a bit deep as the forward line looks disconnected from the midfield. It’s like we need a long pass to reach our forwards just like the goal we created.

VAR is a shambles.

An earlier reducer on Mo, and then continuous sly off ball directed kicks.

Fab tackle:

Outside the box, if ref thinks he caught player, ref would give free kick

Inside box, if ref thinks he caught player, ref would NOT give a pen.

But VAR then takes over, and takes the most unfavorable freeze frame to give a pen on a technicality.

Anyway, new style of pay from us with Jota in midfield, so expected that we’re kinda disjointed at times. Glad Bobby back on the scoresheet.

Put all the VAR out of mind, and have 45 mins to take control of the match.

Apparently, ball was on line, so if a foul, technically a penalty according to the studio. But I don’t think it was a foul. I thought it was a good tackle !

It’s all a bit missy passy not much fucking shooty shooty.

Can’t believe my ears, Owen and Giggs both say it was a penalty, both say the trailing leg is the foul. I give up.

Owen saying no doubt as the trailing leg caught him. But then scissors kick are allowed, so maybe that’s what we should do

1:1 at half time gives us the chance to get our shit together.

I’m just puzzling as to whether the VAR ref is aware that we can see exactly the same fucking thing that they are?

I can only imagine that they didn’t refer the Robbo hand ball because they are fully aware that they have made a mess of this.

Anyway, for everyone not watching this on PPV I salute you.

Sheffield do look like the sharp side from last year, not the 1 point bottom dwellers from the table.

Why can’t you believe it? They’re both Mancs

Yeah, I don’t know. Would like to hear the opinions of some referees, but I thought it was a good tackle. However, it is not as clear cut as Pickford’s deserved red that he didn’t get.
