My point was that he’s been in decline for a while, and has been making more frequent errors, and looks about a yard slow more often than not. He’s absolutely been one of our best players for a long time, but we needed to have proper succession planning in place, especially after letting Konate walk. Virg is still good, but can’t sustain the needed levels that he used to and that we need to accomplish our goals.

The formation and player posititions is all really weird too. Feels like our defenders are trying to push up really high to win the ball and finding themselves in no mans land.

Number 10s are rarely these days. I think today shows the difficulty of a team around a type of player you dont have replacements for and then look a bit lost (more lost) when he’s out.

Jacquet is clearly the succession plan. Also have Leoni and a couple of promising youngsters. Assume we’ll either sign Araujo or get someone else in with experience. Don’t think CB is a major concern
